Yes, some require them to be turned in. There isn't even any flavor text or areas to explore, just click the button & trade.
Basically they're a crown sink for a tiny amount of prestige. Not worth it unless you're swimming in crowns.
They're use for missions, mainly the prestige missions.(From what I noticed at least.)
