Using boss gates at arcade pointless?

So, since we have boss missions the arcade gates are useless now. We can use missions to do boss runs, starting right at boss floors, bypassing all pre-boss annoying lvls that are after moorcraft manor or emberlight and we not only get full amount of boss tokens but also extra prise. Also we bypass clearance fee in crowns.

Its like game falling apart. Everyone will make ton of crowns duing just boss runs without starting from 8 or 18 depth, massive income of crowns. Also making basil recipes everywhere ruins the point of doing pre basil floors in arcade

The game just became rea;y messed up.

Frankly I see a lot messing up because of missions.
* Crafting 2* is now pretty much pointless since much of the gear is now "free". I haven't dived too far into the missions yet, but much of the 2* stuff is now essentially worth 750cr, only UV is worth putting on the AH.
* CE prices are already starting to shoot through the roof. Some 500cr/100CE up from 24 hours ago. My guess will be well over 7000 by weekend. Adding the CR gain to the trip summary is a really nice touch, but just points out how pointless playing with ME is. Early Missions cost 20 energy and net ~640cr. So using your 100ME as a player starting out you'll probably need to play 3 days before you'll afford 100CE. Hopefully CE prices settle down, but it will probably be a couple weeks.
* Making recipes more accessible kills that market on the AH. Recipe runs were basically all that were making this game work on ME alone for me.
* Supply Depot: What exactly is the point of this thing? Trick new players into spending what little gameplay energy they have to get equipment?! (65ME for something that typically sold for well under 1000cr on AH? Come on now.)
* Lockdown is dead: (temporarily) I just started trying that a few days ago so I suck and I lag. But now the only people that seem to be playing are l33t lockdown nuts while most players are fooling around in missions. ( 20 min wait for a game, I forgot signing up and got dropped into the game after I was in the middle of a bidding war on AH. I got pwn3d in 20 seconds, most of my team was dead in the first minute, so no incentive to even bother wasting cr trying to learn how to play.)

I'm not going to get tied down into a free vs. pay discussion, but in a free-to-play model I'd personally expect to see a situation where once you learn the ropes and rules of the game, you can keep your momentum up and keep playing it. I was struggling to do it before the introduction to the missions, but now all I see is a devaluation of essentially any means to keep playing beyond the meagre allowance they allocate free accounts to use. The barrier for entry with Lockdown seems to cut off that avenue as well. :(

Me, I'll wait to see how things develop over the next week or so, but this is so far looking to be a major turn-off for the game. Frankly I don't get the whole "Get to 5* then have nothing to do except play dress-up" game model they have. The missions seemed geared towards giving new players a better introduction to the game, fair enough, but it's likely going to price them out of the game due to CE inflation. (plus waste their ME in that supply depot) I would have thought it'd be better to get more content in for 5* players to get involved with rather than sinking crowns/ce into colour-coordinated dragon wings. But hey...

I think the downside to the

I think the downside to the missions is that someone can't join midway if you had someone who logged in and wanted to play with you. At least from what I understand, you can't enter a mission that's in progress.

However, they may change the boss mission model if it proves to get farmed too much. They could make it not repeatable once it's ended, and then turn it over to a prestige mission which is like a daily. Either way it's new and it'll take a little time to adjust.

Yeah, I definitely don't understand the point of even having gates at all at this point. FSC gate will still matter while the missions are capped at 6-2, but it won't after the FSC mission is released. There are still arenas, I guess, but yeah finding a party in any given gate is going to be really hard now because nobody's going to have much of a reason to go into them.

As if damn near everyone wasn't doing that already.

Also, you cannot buy any sealed sword or antigua derivative recipe from the Hall. Nor an you buy a CoA one. You still need to get them through Basil. Also, there are no 5* recipes out yet through them, so the market for T3 still exists... for now.

CE prices are only high because people are willing to shell out to experience this new shiny thing. It'll die down.

CE prices also jumped because this new system (which will eat a lot of CE to experience it fast) was released the same exact time that a promotion ended. A double whammy sending CE prices through the roof.

Luckily I have more than enough to buy what I want for the next few weeks to a month since I stocked up when CE was 5.9kcr/100CE. Sold all my sparks, boss tokens, minerals, materials, and anything else I had in my inventory that I didn't need now.

what is up with the pointless items?

Like the Miners hat and stun gun?? I cant get rid of them. And it didnt give me a choice to accept them. I mean a stun gun? I already have "Valience" for petes sake!! All the early missions are only good for people who just started playing. They should have given credit for those missions to those people that have been here a while. And the crafting? it wastes my ME....

Kittsugiguin, you can sell unwanted items to vendors, even if they are bound. 1-star items fetch 300 crowns, while 2-star items fetch 750 crowns. Not much, but at least you're cleaning up your arsenal.

You are completely forgetting the other aspect of the mission system that I believe was put in to counterbalance what you are concerned about. Namely the materials sink that is the Monstrous Research prestige missions. While it may not seem like much right now to give away some 1 or 2* materials. Once you get to a high enough rank it is going to be 5* materials. How do you get 5* materials? Well you either have to go to the appropriately themed stratum and hope to god you're lucky or you buy them off the AH. Either way someone is going to have to go down to T3 stratums that are not boss levels to obtain the materials. No incentive? Tell me that again once material prices shoot through the roof as T3 missions are rolled out. I imagine players will be able to fund their runs entirely again with the 5* materials they obtain. This also addresses the issues Die-Smiling brought up, in that OOO did not in fact kill every way free-to-play players have of making money. You just need to see the opportunities instead of the pitfalls.

Every single updates people whine about how OOO killed the game and ruined the economy and every single update I have made large profits off of the new mechanics. You just need to change your perspective in order to start making money instead of losing money.

I dont care about ppl whinning with every single update. I care about this update. Basils are spreaded everywhere in every party lobby, reipes in hall of heroes. T3 missions are just matter of time, when they will be introduced and 5* recipes will be avaliable everywhere it will be already too late, we must act now.

Hall of Heroes only offer even numbered recipes. If you want 3* or 5* recipes you'll need to see regular Basil. Also so what if 5* recipes are everywhere? Though we may have lost that market that doesn't mean people will have no way to make money. Recall I mentioned materials prices will most likely go up which means the high level materials market will be back.

@Nodocchi T3 missions will give out 5* materials once they're available. Once there are enough T3 missions, every 5* material will be available from a mission. Then, the arcade won't be necessary for getting materials either.

If you ask me, Stygian Steeds and Briar Bone Barrage should be kept Arcade exclusive.
If we have a few rare, unique levels only available through the Arcade, that would actually keep the Arcade alive.
Alternatively, OOO could make those two levels available through missions.
Briar Bone Barrage will rarely be run more than once, because it has a very low payout. It's major redeeming feature is being the only abode of the Toxilargo, which is interesting to go fight whenever the level pops up. But if it is always available, there won't be high demand to run it.
Stygian Steeds would probably be fairly popular, but it would lose the rare factor.

Ask yourselves. Would you rather something be always accessable, or would you prefer for it to be special?
I would prefer for them to be special, rather than lose some of the last rare experiences we have left.

people are never happy. Why can't we all just shut up and enjoy the game? Why does everyone have to complain? It's been 24 hours... wait for the rest of the release. if you are concerned about making money, just run mission 5-2 over and over again. 30 ce/mist vs 3100cr profit. FFS people, stop whining.

what is the point in doing it!!?? Everyone will do it, so everyone will get more money, thy will be wiling to pay more so overall stuff will become more expensove so in the end nothing will change becouse even if we earn more money stuff will be more expensive

If it kills arcade...

OOO can keep the 3 and 5* recipes Basil exclusive. Alternatively they could have a little incentive to run arcade missions, idk. Or make boss missions once only and have those who spammed it go rage mode.
