Callahan is better, Iron Slug can just cover piercing's weaknesses-constructs and slimes. I think Iron Slug is better than Polaris at interrupting attacks.

In all seriousness, I would love this weapon to become viable. Everything about it screams for me to use it --
Competent single shot (I shield a lot), fast enough to hit wolvers and devilites, flinches opponents, normal damage (sweet baby, do I like normal damage!!)
Only...yeah. It needs a new play style or just 100 added to it's end game damage attack and 200 to it's charge attack. Until then, I figure I will make the Mega Magnus for PVP and then just sorta leave it there.

So, while we are waiting for it, how would we like it to update our favorite underdog? Add status? Make it half normal damage, half pierce? More damage? New charge attack? There are probably forums on forums for this, but I want to do it here to keep this one in the upper ranks of forums so that they know we mean business ;-)
Personally, a simple, flat damage bonus would make me happy, and a new special would be great. It would have to be really powerful to make up for that deplorable slow you get. Since enemies are likely to get all 'up on ya' during the charge time, perhaps a shot that becomes stronger the closer you are would be nice to make it a long range/short range weapon.

They planned for a more immediate patch but what they had in mind wasn't feasible with the way the game works. I don't believe we've seen any kind of actual patch that has made it into the game two years later either for that matter. Don't go...........................
