I want to know the logic behind the benefit of having shadow keys.

Anyways, post below the good / bad of having these in the game. I'm just going to observe.

A bit late for this topic to

A bit late for this topic to arise. Either way long story short, they're ok now, but its understandable they are so highly priced. (Do we really want noobs raging about how they wasted their money trying the Shadow Lairs and saying its too hard?)

"noobs raging about how they

"noobs raging about how they wasted their money trying the Shadow Lairs and saying its too hard"

On that topic though, isn't progression about failing then going back to try again / getting past learning curves until you get it right or never do?

"they're ok now, but its understandable they are so highly priced. "

Now you might be busy and such which I understand, you have a life and I am not asking for a novel, but is there any specific reason that it is understandable? I'm just fishing for logic / reasoning behind the benefit of these.

Rawr, is this gonna end up

Rawr, is this gonna end up like that hail driver experience thread, where you said you won't post but only observe :P

Relating to thread, I think its a fine barrier for new players, and a fine way for OOO to make money.

No Demonic, this time I will

No Demonic, this time I will just be questioning people's logic :3 PROMISE! nothing else. No bias.

"I think its a fine barrier for new players"

How so? Did you mean this as in distinguishing the new players from others? Or did you mean as in 1800 CE is a reasonable amount for a new player to strive for at an attempt of a shadow lair?

"fine way for OOO to make money."

Does anyone wish to disagree below? Good to get both sides going here. Unless we all agree it is best to have a nice flow of cash to the devs, for developing and such.

"the price of the shadow key

"the price of the shadow key make it not worth"

Not worth profit? Not worth doing it for fun / experiencing content?

I think the shadow lairs were

I think the shadow lairs were meant to be optional content, though at the time that it came out it seemed to be end-game. Now I think the shadow lairs are supposed to be like the very hard mode you unlock after beating a game; it's something given to you but you don't have to do it to complete the main portion. I don't know if I am a big fan of the paywall, but if it's not necessary to the missions and playing the main game and story line, then maybe it's not so bad. *shrug*

Eh

Good: "New" fun content

Bad: The price is ridiculous. Which effectively makes you only play them very few times, despite how fun they can be.
I wouldn't mind as much if they were a "buy once" deal like expansion missions will be.

I would say more, but there are a million threads about this from when they were released.

But then one can argue, you get the echo stones at the end of the shadow lairs. Those are part of the lore in this game. It seems as if they are guiding your knight towards doing the Shadow Lairs to reveal more about the lore, not exactly optional if you want to learn more. In other words, it isn't optional and doing normal FSC, IMF etc. isn't the "end".

The echo stones are probably

The echo stones are probably more like flavor lore and it's easy to obtain on the wiki. We can only speculate, but I don't think the shadow lairs are meant to be a major part of following the game's story-line. Most of it is being fed to us through the mission system.

Shadow lairs are pretty much

Shadow lairs are pretty much a novelty for bored rich players. I don't think they were meant to be profitable (people started rumors that you made 300k off 1 SL run when it first came out). Players can just split the cost, and try their hand at a more difficult experience, just fir the sake of doing it. If I had 200k CE, I so would go on an SL run, since I wouldn't need the profit.

There is really a simple

There is really a simple fix.

Since you can't access T3 until you have 4* gear, shadow keys should be locked from purchase until you at least have the right level of gear or have completed the 6-2 missions.

This would prevent new players from inadvertently purchasing them.
That would kind of be... the RIGHT thing to do, wouldn't it?

...

I've seen videos of the Shadow Runs.
PROS: The Elite take their tests. It is some experience that has not been released for the Veterans for a while. Looks nice.
------- The armors look awesome.
------- Level up on the way and get 2x the tokens! Profitable...
My own CONS: Can armors really benefit Armor-Wise and not just for costumes?
------------------ Really expensive for reviving, Key price, Elevators, and crafting the items.
------------------ Too tough for me right now. I'm still trying to ace FSC and still energy rev in the levels. Imagine how much reviving I'll do in the lairs.
Why I don't: Expensive to buy a key, I would call myself a dead weight the rest of the team (maybe inexperience), fear of failure in such an expensive run, not prepared for any of those runs, lack of time, ability to use energy on new equipment, no one invites for the reason above.
Why I want: Experience, Awesome costumes, Tokens and Crowns.

I want, but can't. It is a luxury I may not afford. Can this much energy go down the drain, dying at the last second unable to stand back up?

It's actually a pretty

It's actually a pretty reasonable deal...

Lets say you split an 1800 CE shadow key 4 ways, 450 CE a share. 6000 crowns for 100 CE in this example is 27,000 CR. Any 5* gear you make will cost you at least 25,000 crowns if you're lucky enough to find the recipe on a basil run, even more if you buy it from the AH. The extra 5* material will amp the price up accordingly.

If you're there to craft the 5* armors (I don't understand why else you'd be here in the first place), then the Shadow Lair's really no more expensive than crafting any other piece of 5* equipment...

Yes, it does require you to do get a team together, do some planning ahead of time, learn how to play the game, etc. but its some of the most fun and challenging content offered at the moment. If that's not enough, then Shadow run boss prizes have a pretty hefty CR payout as well as a nice amount of boss tokens (6-8).

So price is not "ridiculous" and SL runs are only a "novelty" if you'd rather craft your 5* gear in the same old way as 1*-4*.

Xterminatertron makes a good point

Shadow Keys only seem expensive because all that expensive is concentrated in one little quest item. Broken down, it's not a lot at that point in the game. And it's nothing compared to what people spend gearing up to do SLs in the first place.

they cost a lot

i understand why they put this barrier for shadow lairs its to show how good you are and how good you can be but honestly, i think the ce price is ridiculous
