Ever since the missions patch, gameplay seems to have gotten choppier and much less smooth. Randomly on any level my knight will suddenly jerk towards a certain direction by a square or two. Sometimes I will swing my sword but the frames showing the sword swinging animation will be skipped and it will appear as if I had not attacked at all. Another thing I noticed is sometimes when I switch to a different weapon and attack, my character will do the jerking to one side thing again and then instantaneously switch back to the previous weapon with no damage being dealt to the monster. These things occur at least 2-3 times for every single level if not more. However, I do not experience this issue in PvP which leads me to believe that the missions are somehow causing this problem. This problem wasn't nearly as severe as it is now before the missions arrived. Sure, the visual 4 swing combo rather than 3 would occur occasionally, but this happened a lot less frequently and did not affect my gameplay nearly as much as this currently existing problem.

Lag or connection problem?

Sound like you press a button, see the action on your PC but server didnt receive the input so it messes things up, like de-synchronize animations, etc.

ughhh

the jerking to the side thing has been happening to me lately, its almost as if im getting pulled by an invisible force mostly backward or to the side. i thought it was lag,but then i just stayed still for about 2 minutes and i got pulled 3 times..so its not the input, idk what keeps making my character do that. i have 4 bars as well, thing is its hard to do fsc when im scared of getting pulled into fire by some invisible demon who likes messing with me DX

This happens to me too. Never

This happens to me too. Never happened pre-patch, but now in LD, I find myself randomly moving in one direction, usually ending up with me dead or lowered health. And I have my graphics on low.

Happens to me on a much

Happens to me on a much milder degree then what you described. I only experience the random jerking, and it happens only when a lot of things are going on (LD- getting gangbanged my multiple dusters)

After patch my game sometimes

After patch my game sometimes goes out of sync with other players, never happened before.
Can't see chat, hp decreasing on hit, dmg numbers etc. Then after a couple of minutes I either DC or all chat/hp-bar updates at once.

i would agree there is some

i would agree there is some issue, and it now is worse than it has been for a while, especially in lockdown, I haven't played lockdown in about a month and a half or so and now i can say it really sucks. my hp will drop before i even see someone come running and swing. If i swing back i rarely even hit the person who some how took half my hp with out me even seeing them or seeing them swing till way after my hp is gone. in fsc you can be clearly away from a zombie when it jumps towards you and you still loose hp. its like as if they have tried to do some lag compensation thing and it has made the game worse than it was say a month ago. yes i know they just added the zombie jump damage, but if i see a zombie charging to jump and i move out of the way of where its going to land i dont expect to get my health taken away. yes i have 4 bars on the lag meter, i even live on the east coast which is were the usa server is based. i also do get the random repositioning like as if the server got out of sync of where you were and tried to resync and then it warps you to where it thinks you should be. happens in both ld and regular play over the past 2 to 3 days.

Decreased performance, yes.

I haven't clocked my framerates but yes I know it's decreased and I have a lot more jarring performance issues than before.
I have a very old computer but I'm buying a brand new one tonight (hopefully).

So... it's not your imagination, though with all extra resources added into the game, I wonder if there's anything that can be done?

I wonder if it's because the Mission menu is running in memory at all times, even though it can't be accessed during missions.
If this were the culprit... maybe OOO could dump it from memory when it's not accessible? (i.e. during gameplay)

I've had this many a time before the Missions update though, with even more unpleasant symptoms.

It's java. Every single time

It's java. Every single time there's a update you see an uptick in "SK isnt working for _____" and then they reinstall the game and viola all is well. Although your problem isnt with it breaking, it makes things choppier for people on lower to middle range computers. Also this update was a rather large one so the effects are more noticeable.

that has happened

Being yanked places and stopped by objects I didn't think I was near, is common for me, pre-missions. Post-, it's about the same. Though more instances of 'where am I that I'm getting hit?'

May become a problem.

It hasn't been affecting me much recently, but I HAVE experienced random bouts of out-of-sync actions, making Spiral Knights a little harder to play.

Plus, I swear, I've been having issues with their servers recently, randomly DC'ing, even with a perfect connection.

Not saying that I'm having too severe of issues, but if this keeps up, the game could become unplayable.

/shrug Whenever this happens

/shrug

Whenever this happens to me, and keeps continuing, I restart the computer. Apparently, it cleans the memory and reduces the lag by quite some bit.

But if that doesn't work... well, so far, it hasn't not worked. For me, anyway.

Uh...

I was fighting some Gremlin knockers when my client froze. It rebooted, then I found myself dead.

And I was going so well! If it didn't freeze, those furballs would have died. I froze mid-combo attacking both at the same time, all hits landing. All attacks are a 2-hit KO in that stage with my gear at the time, so if it froze just a second later, I wouldn't have died.

But I did, so I called in backup.

And backup laughed at me :'(

Um...

Defragment your drive SK is on?

Seriously guys, with a game that updates as often as SK, fragmentation is gonna be an issue over a long time...

I was getting horrible framerate problems yesterday, and my arsenal/loadout panels were super slow. Defragmented my drive, and now it's smooth as butter like it used to be.
