So I haven't used a plain 2* brandish for something like 6 months now, and I've honestly never had a calibur until the missions gave me one for free. I know I can obviously do my own testing for this, but I wanted to throw it out there just in case someone else already has.
My understanding is that against immobile targets the calibur charge attack should do more damage than the brandish. For mobile targets the brandish will presumably do more since the mob will ride the wave rather than just getting flung half way across the map with the first hit. So far so good: use the calibur for turrets and the brandish for other stuff.
The question then is: against large, basically immobile enemies, which is better? Presumably for Roarmulus the calibur will come out on top since the brandish explosions will get cut off (though I haven't experimented with doing the charge attack parallel to the wall to see if the explosions will fire and hit), but against the Royal Jelly which one would be preferred? I get the feeling that the explosions from the brandish might put it very close with the three hits from the calibur, as well as being easier to pull off without getting within headbutt range, but then the calibur will also clear minis who are creeping up behind me.
Note that I'm not interested in discussing any of the upgrades, only the 2* variants as they are. Obviously I know that the Acheron and Combuster will do massively more damage than the calibur and brandish combined against RJ and RT respectively.
Thoughts?
Each explosion only does 25% of the damage of the swing, so even if all the explosions hit, the Calibur charge attack should do more.
