I got to his third mask and then my game crashed (solo). Which is why I was wondering...that's all. :)

bad luck
though....usually...yeah, you're right..most of the games last bosses, even at mega and snes time, had to be killed 3 times or more in a row to finally be down good (this, of course, excepts dr wily, sigma, robotnic, bowser, and many others, that simply refuse to stay down...it almost looks like sadistic behavior).
Til u cause him enough concussion to knock him down
