So I just created a Wolver coat with Maximum Fire Resist.

I was planning on taking it to Vog Cub.... but doesn't Vog Cub already have max fire resist? Should I take it to Skolver (doesn't skolver suck right now?)? Should I scrap it? Not exactly sure how resists work, i.e. do they offer beyond what the bar on the equip screen says? Thanks for any input.

Note: I do not plan on wearing vog cub cap. I will instead be wearing, most likely, chaos cowl. Will the "extra"? fire resist on this vog cub coat cover the fire resist I will be losing by not wearing the cap... so in essence I would have maximum fire resist from this one piece of equipment instead of needing both the coat and cap to reach that "resist cap?"

Well, I'm a noob so I can't

Well, I'm a noob so I can't tell you which way to go.

But I can tell you that even with that, the Vog Cub Coat would still have all of that elemental defense that you're giving up if you go skolver, as well as sword attack speed increase (medium). I think most things that burn are elemental attacks (including the status itself perhaps?)

If you really plan on making

If you really plan on making a Chaos Cowl, then yes, I'd recommend going Vog Cub. Skolver isn't quite worth it, because it has no elemental defense, and pretty much no mobs deal piercing. I'd actually recommend against a Chaos Cowl in any situation, because the low defense and weakness to literally everything are certainly not worth it for just a low damage bonus. Even on a slow, strong sword, such as Divine Avenger or Khorovod, a low would be just 25 extra damage at most, I believe.

But back on the topic of resist. What you need to be aware of is the maximum amount of resist you can get - Which is 140 points. Each Vog piece gives 35, and a full bar is 70. (And a shield is 70 aswell - Essentially, no variants at all and no trinkets, but armor/helm and a shield with resist will already get you to the resist cap once they're five star) Although a maximum fire resist variant might seem like it's 35, it's actually 25 or 30. (or decreases to that much on five stars, if the armor has fire resist naturally too?) I own a Fire resistance Maximum Vog Cub Cap, and the meter isn't completely full - It's about half a bar away from full. Not having any hard numbers is a bit annoying.

Once you reach the maximum resistance, although you're NOT given complete immunity, any further resist will not have any effect at all. Having those things in mind, it isn't really hard to figure out what path you're going to take. In general, I recommend reaching the maximum resist on fire and using an armor with elemental defense. Those are the main things to fear on T3 and endgame.

Thanks Kakelgis

Thanks for your detailed response Kakelgis.

Few More notes...

I am currently using (and loving) a grey owlite shield (70 fire resist) and assuming i take this coat to vog cub (another 60-65 ish? 35 plus max fire resist to give another 25 or 30) brings me just sort of the cap on two pieces of equipment. Easy enough to equip a cheap FR trinket leaving my helm slot open.

I was planning on the chaos cowl simply because I like the look of hood with the furry mantle of the wolver series. (currently using miracle with ashtail) An opinion has been stated against chaos cowl, and I refuse to go vog cub cap route (i know you can have a costume hood, but its the principle of the thing, I can only be a conformist to a degree)

Soooo.... i guess my real interest is in having any helm besides furry types. If chaos cowl is no good, and grey feather is redundant... divine? (also redundant) valkyrie helm? Crown of the fallen? Deadly virulisk?

Again this is assuming I stick with this max fire resist coat and reach 140 FR points through coat/shield/trinket(if not overkill) leaving an opening for an alternate helm. This is also assuming there will continue to not be bonuses for wearing a set.

Again, thanks for all the input.

If you get UVs that let you hit max without using default gear specs, why not look at a different set piece for more coverage? Hm....

If you like the look, make a separate chaos cowl from your main armor and wear it in the costume slot, silly
