I'm trying to pick Spiral Knights back up again after like half a year and for whatever reason I can't launch it. I run it on steam and get as far as the black screen before it closes out. Things to note:

1) I've updated Java

2) I did a diagnostic boot so I'm pretty sure my firewall isn't an issue because I turned it off. For those wondering it is Norton

3) I'm playing on Windows Vista, I use a Nvidia Graphics Card

Please Help, thanks in advance.

Update: I've now uninstalled and reinstalled SK. Nothing has changed. I get the black screen and it simply closes immidiately.

Do you happen to know the link to the Nvidia site where I can update it? I vaguely remember how to do it but I'm not sure where to start.

This is why I don't use Steam. Switched a while back, and not disappointed yet.

Best solution I can offer is to reinstall both steam and SK. Your account shouldn't be affected by this.

i just go to nvidia's site (i have a fairly new card so it's quite easy to find my drivers, i just google nvidia). if you have trouble just google search your card's up-to-date driver. if it's no longer supported by nvidia, you can try omega drivers.

i doubt u have to reinstall steam.

o yeah, you should also post this in the technical issue forum

Late post but I might be able to help

Your steam games I'm not sure, but deleting the local files as Steam's way of reinstalling a game does NOT lose any characters or accounts for SK (did it twice before the graphics diver thingy.)

Otherwise can someone give him the support mail for SK? Otherwise send them a log of the recent crash
Find the SK folder through something like this on your computer

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights

Mail support: [Link needed]

Give them the Most recent:

hs_err_pid#### (an assortment of numbers after it)
launcher

v I TL;DR'd before this, ignore it or something. Idk read if it helps v
Nvidia is the Graphics card I use and I recently have the same problem (since the drivers aparently dont tell you when they are 1 year outdated >____>)

Heres the link: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

The seach in there will show you all the divers from start to finish based on your search. It goes a lot faster than using the one on the regular driver page. (since the most recent version for my 310M Geforce installer is broken and says it cant find compatible software. Double >______________>)

ur steam games stay with your

ur steam games stay with your steam account, which is held in valve's database. so reinstalling steam won't affect ur games.

did u drop a thread in the tech support forums? are you sure this game still supports your graphics card?

latest Update bug

This might be the latest Update that Spiral Knights got for the DLC. Can't blame computers, but the game itself is crashing for many people. Including me.
