Turrets in general.
I'm a full time bomber and recently was struggling with turret rooms.. which convinced me to get a gun. So which gun is the best btw im not too fond of the polaris.
thanks.

don't like the polaris? try the supernova.
but the polaris is pretty much the easiest and possibly the most reliable gun against turrets. (great range, can interrupt turrets with normal shots, good damage against stationary targets)
and as you know from the AP/Nova thread that the those 2 are just based on personal preference (for turrets anyway).
O wait, u can also try the hail driver. u freeze the turrets so they can't turn and aim at u. but keep in mind that it does not work on freeze strata
If you want to freeze them, I'd suggest shivermist. It may not quite have the range, but at least it ensures they STAY froze, even if you attack them (as long as the field is still there). Hail Driver ricochets often break the ice.
But is supernova good on turrets.. i mean it does normal damage.
I dislike polaris because i find it to be an over-used weapon.. i like weapons that not every single person has plus i just dislike it in general
Polaris, being elemental, deals effective damage to 2 of 3 types of turrets. It also deal shock, interrupting puppies when you can't be bothered to shoot it.
Supernova is fine, we are just posting on effectiveness of polaris on turrets. Supernova has a better knockback than polaris, due to no shock rooting enemies in place, if that is a problem for you.
The blinding flash will just be white, the knockback still exists, and it is a normal damage gun with all the negatives of polaris and normal damage guns.
the supernova will hit jelly turrets a bit more than a polaris would. however the polaris will hit a lot harder than the supernova against undead and construct turrets than the supernova. both can interrupt turrets with normal shots. i find the interruption caused by shock rarely happens (because of the timing of the firing and the shock).
the supernova looks better imo
Both weapons have same base damage, one is elemental, one is normal. So the Supernova will do the exact same damage to slime turrets as a Polaris will. Benefit of polaris is the shock status, and bonus against elemental and undead.
o ok. i swear i read that off somewhere in the forums. So just take the polaris
supernova is not as good as polaris against turrets. Think about it. Good against two types vs good against none? The knockback is irrelevant, and shock is helpful. Besides, I'm pretty sure shock doesn't negate knockback anyway.
From using it a ton back in the old days, shock DOES negate knockback for sure. I find this mechanism to be actually good for the dps, if it wasn't so random. But yeah it's irrelevant against turrets. And Polaris is better than Supernova against turrets, it's silly to argue otherwise. Supernova is just a very niche weapon.
Shock, on its damage ticks, does root the enemy in place. Negates knockbacks, in other words.
Shock has such a small damage window that I have yet to see it interrupt knockback.
It still roots the enemy for a small amount of time after the damage tick. Try it with a polaris, you'll notice that the shock prevents the kockback.
@Batabii It's easiest to see if you're using a Voltedge charge. As soon as one of the hits shocks a monster they stop riding the wave of explosions.
"Shock has such a small damage window that I have yet to see it interrupt knockback."
I shoot fan after fan of bullets, and see entire 2-shot barrages not cause knock back, as well as zombies leaping into range just because of shock. And trust me, it happens quite often. It happens so often that Supernova is so much more reliable when using a pulsar for survivability.
Polaris is probably the best turret gun
Supernova is better at everything else the Polaris can do survivability wise when utilizing the knockback.
If you dont like polaris there's supernova
But you can go with magma (fire and forget) / storm driver (shock) but nothing works good as polaris tbh it's just too easy :>
Turrets are currently either weak to shadow or elemental. I still say polaris is most useful, since it will interrupt them.
Short of that, any of the drivers is good, or AP.
