This seems like the right place to post this, so I'll post it here..
If you had a curse max UV on a helm or a piece of armor you had, would it completely reduce the chances of being cursed by the gran faust charge attack to zero?

Short answer: No, one UV max is not enough.
Long answer:
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Curse
Because the wiki is no longer accurate:
If you want to use GF, you'll need the equivalent of 5 (not 4!) points of resistance. Low = 1, Med = 2, High = 3, Max = 4. (Most armour/helms with built in Curse will be equivalent to a Max at 5*.) Why? Because that's the point at which only one of your weapons becomes Cursed. This means you can use the charge attack with impunity, since you can just switch to your other weapon (or weapons, if you have 3-4 slots) whenever the self-Curse goes off.
An efficient way to do this is to get a built-in Curse armour/helm with an additional Curse Low UV.
I feel like an idiot going for the Gran Faust now. I have a full set geared towards bombs with no curse resistance. I skimmed through the blade's description when I decided I wanted it haha! Looks like this little guy is going to be locked up for a while until I get a good set for him...
If you are using the gran faust, you really aren't supposed to charge it. Even with max ctr, it is slow, and having only one hologram sword is not huge in the damage department.
The regular combos will not curse yourself, the 2nd hit has a low chance of cursing enemies, but no self curse. No charge, no curse resistance required.
But I already have the Leviathan, so I'm just going to stick to that. Besides I've already established my point when dungeon plugging. Run around like mad placing Ice bombs so no one gets ganged up on. Soon I will also have the 5* gravatron and then I will have some fun...
I am against bombers planting shivs everywhere. Try ash of agni, or voltaich tempest, if you want to spam haze bombs.
Having a shadow sword is useful for bombers, because they have no pure shadow bomb besides graviton, which is lacking in damage.
The Shivermist bomb has gotten me out of waaaay too many situations for me to ever pack it away. My friends love it and every random group I ever played with in t1 2 or 3 loved it. Like I said I'm not usually there for the damage, I'm just there to keep my friends gooses from being cooked. I liked the Faust for what it was, but when I decided to switch back to my Levi I realized I missed the charge attack and the feel. I may not have the best strategy but I'm too stubborn pay money and switch on a dime. And regardless we all have fun!
This was AZ, and this is his lame story!
I agree with Demonic on Shivermist, you can see a more expanded list of my griefs here : forums.spiralknights.com/fr/node/45403
You may help your team more with Voltaic Tempest. Notably, it prevents zombies from jumping, kats from doing anything and alpha wolvers from doing more than one bite.
ok, so I also have a max curse uv. When i used the charge on the faust the number of weps cursed was always one; however, since upgrading it to gran faust so far the weps cursed on charge is always two. Is the curse on gran faust any stronger to the user or is this some bug? I know for a fact that the normal faust only curses one wep from experience (with enough curse res of course). Now we need some research into what is the difference between gran faust and normal faust self curse; kindof a bother I can't just switch to my gun after firing a curse blast (because I am so used to only one wep cursing, i managed to gun myself to death the first time this happened). I know curse isn't the most practical status effect in the game, but I still wanna use it, and without fear that i will curse myself to death. Another thing, can you go beyond the max value uv for curse res?
Gf curse is stronger than faust. Part of the problem could be that curse effect is also nerfed in lower tiers, like other status.
Uv's on armour will not go above max, but the addition of inbuilt resistance and resistance from other armour will apply.
From a gameplay point of view, you shouldn't be charging it too often. Slow, weak in terms of upfront damage, and the lack of a main dps weapon due to curse is pretty harsh.
Tip, drop all of your remedy pills before you charge, and pick them up if you manage to curse yourself. Remedies will then be free to use without taking damage.
just a note, if you use at least 3 weapon slots, being cursed isn't the end of the world. Sometimes it's worth it to curse a bunch of enemies at once.
So maybe you started to talk me into thinking about the Voltaic Tempest. But seeing as I'm a rather poor fellow in game it will take some time. Just going to stick with my Shivermist till that get's up there...
What do you guys think...I might even be willing to get one more slot for a while.
Leviathan, Gravatron Vortex, Status effect bomb(either shock or fire...depending on the area)
What do you guys think?
Out of those? What are your current weapons.
I meant that for a basic set. I already own the Leviathan and I just bought the Gravatron Vortex Recipe. You now got me thinking of getting the Flame or Shock vapor bombs so I don't have much on those yet.
I just wanted your thought on the set as a whole. Like if you saw a guy with this join your group how would you feel? I love playing with my friends and I'd like to believe that I like to focus on crowd control. This is why I loved the shivermist bomb so well, because it did its part in keeping my friends from being easily swarmed.
Would trapping a group in a gravatron vortex and then shocking or putting them ablaze be a better strategy? I saw a video using this and it seemed rather effective...
Graviton* vortex is a fine bomb, especially for rjp. Shock bomb would be better in a party, or fire for more dps.
Thanks, I'll try going for the shock bomb first. Though I say this now I know the Basil gods will give me nothing but fire bombs from here on out haha!
Nope. It's impossible to become totally resistant to any status, though you can lessen it down.
