Welcome everyone to my first ever fanfic! I've been playing Spiral Knights with my friends for a while now. We absolutely love the game to death. It wasn't until I checked out this forum that I decided to scheme up a little story based on our fabulous misadventures. I'm going to post these at my own leisure, I'm usually a busy man but I do what I can.
Like I said this is my first fanfic and could really use a good kick in the butt if something stands out to you. I always love finding new ways to improve so let it rip! For the most part I already have the story planned out. Well.....here I go! I hope you enjoy!
An Unusual Initiation
"He said it would only take an hour right?" The sudden break in the silence shook the other two Knights from their somber states. The knight with the bulking armor set stood up and faced the one who had called out as if to say something, but one look at those intense eyes and he knew he should back down. He took a step back and averted his gaze hoping this wouldn't go any further. "Well that was a load of bull!" It was too late, eye contact was already made. "AZ, your bro left on his resupply mission THREE HOURS ago!" The angered knight took a step forward and placed his hand on his victim's shoulder, known to all as AZ. With a raised eyebrow AZ replied with an irritated tone, "Rob....first of all, I don't have control over what my brother does," He shook Rob's hand off and took a few steps towards a nearby window. "Also, try to lighten up. This is our big day after all!"
Finally the third knight sitting in the chair chimed in, "The day we three become true knights of the Spiral Order and embark on our quest to discover the truth of this dark-twisted planet-" The further he went with this the more sarcastic he sounded. Rob shook his head and began pacing back and forth, "We get it Ponytail, it's not like we didn't have that speech drilled into our heads through training last month!" AZ let out a chuckle from Rob's nickname for the poor fellow, something that lead to his own outburst, "For the last time my name is Healerdoc! I only picked this helmet because it looked the coolest out of the three they gave us!" Doc's statements didn't even faze the other knight. He seemed to be lost in his own fantasy, "ARG I can't wait to get down there, taking on hordes of baddies with nothing but my cold steel." Suddenly the restless knight took off towards the entrance of the Hall of Heroes, leaving the other two there to gaze at each other with surprise. "Welp, we might as well join him. We aren't doing much sitting around anyway." With a quick nod of agreement, AZ and Doc casually walked to the other side of the room.
When they got close enough they noticed Barron with his immense armor and weapons blocking the entrance as usual. They got there just in time to overhear the end of what seemed to be a heated argument, "I've said it once and I'll say it a thousand times. Both the Guild masters of your guild have to be present for me to begin the ceremony. My records show that Ethical as well as AZ were granted Guildmaster status at this guilds creation. 'The Sitting Ducks' are just going to have to wait." With a large sigh, Rob backed off and slowly made it for the door. The other two trailed behind.
AZ smiled and tried his best to reassure him, "Don't worry about it man, we are just as excited about this as you are. Let's go grab something to eat. I'm sure Eth and Avant will be back soon. They have never let us down be-" Before he could even finish his statement he was cut off by a large rumble that violently shook the ground beneath them. All three of the knights fell to the ground as the lights around them buzzed out. The shaking went on for about half a minute before it slowly vanished in the distance, though the lights refused to turn back on. Though stunned AZ was the first to jump to his feet, "Rob, Doc....you alright?" He also turned back and yelled back to Barron to check up on him. Slowly the other knights rose to their feet, but before they could respond everyone's commlinks automatically tuned into the emergency channel,
"This is Agent Kora of the Spiral Order. I'm sure everyone felt that quake just now. I'm just here to let you know that everything is fine. This quake started in the lower depths of Clockworks so Haven is still in one piece. We are still running a few checks on our security but you can be assured there is nothing to worry about. Till we find out the cause of this we are initiating a complete lockdown. We will not be allowing any teams access into Clockworks. Our lines with the teams inside are currently down and there is no way of knowing how dangerous it has become. As always we will keep you informed. Stay safe everyone..."
The signal crackled a bit before the channel went offline. The three knights just stood there in silence for a moment before Doc nudged AZ, "Yeah, I know..." The leader opened the guild channel, "Calling all Ducks, meet me at the Guild Hall...AZ out" Without another word, the three charged out the door. Each could tell this day was going to get a lot more interesting...
