currently the controller can be mapped to facing, cardinal movement, relative movement.

but why not combine move forward (moving to where you're facing) and the facing? this way i can control both the facing and movement with just 1 stick.

Think about it: If you press

Think about it:
If you press forwards, it makes you point north and move forwards.
If you push down, it makes you point south and move backwards (ie you move up the screen, facing down)
If you push right, it makes you point east and strafe right (you move down the screen, facing right)
If you push left, it makes you point west and strafe left (you move down the screen, facing left)

How do you plan on using these controls again?
Either, just use the move in cardinal direction + face in cardinal direction commands that are AUTOMATICALLY (default) mapped to the arrow keys...
OR, use the arrow keys and WASD for move in cardinal direction and face cardinal direction.
Or if you're really spatially aware, use the arrow keys for strafe movement and WASD for facing cardinal direction. That's like the basic controller approach (fps style).
Better yet, try using face + move on the arrow keys and then WASD for strafe controls.

OR WAIT!
here's a brilliant idea...

USE THE MOUSE! And then use the strafe (default "C") key to lock your direction! Wowie!
Now all you gotta do is hold "C" and "Z" while moving left and facing the bottom, and you look like James Bond! t00 c00l!!11!1!!

no you're not getting what im

no you're not getting what im saying.

using ONLY the move forward + facing controls, you will get:

press down = face down, move down
press up = face up, move up
press left = face left, move left
press right = face right, move right

just like the arrow keys on the keyboard with all the angles in between.

and i specifically said controller...
