From what I've seen, this weapon seems crazy overpowered (imagine using it on Royal Jelly!) but I don't actually know much about it so I have to ask people who have it.
What are your thoughts on Dark Retribution?
After a few stratums of use it may be my favourite bomb. It tears anything non-shadow resistance or highly mobile to shreds and it's actually an extremely effective bomb for dpsing bosses where as we were previously stuck with RSS. I have yet to test it in Lockdown, but I feel it also has applications there for giving a bombers a viable dps weapon as opposed to once again relying on shards, or Nitro (Which is minaly for point control as opposed to dmg).
I've used it in Lockdown. It's a wonderful area denial tool - anyone standing inside it is basically shut down because they flinch over and over. It helps that it's just big enough to completely cover a control point, and can seal off most hallways. It's not even fully heated, and it's already replaced my Voltaic Tempest - that should tell you the whole story. ;)
One thing to note, though, if you're going to use Dark Retribution in Lockdown: stacking multiple bombs on the same location will not improve the damage like it does to monsters, so you're better off spreading them around to cover the greatest area you can.
@kaiseryoshi
I played one person with it, and it seems to me like the area is smaller than VT. Also, does it last quite as long as the haze bombs? If it is smaller and doesn't last as long, I think that it would pair best with VT, but wouldn't replace it. I actually had no problem pushing the other bomber off the control point with my VT, but that may have been due to superior bomb pushing skill :-P
Its a fantastic weapon for damage on slime levels. I actually find myself using it over Acheron. However, gremlins in t3 are mobile enough that it isn't strictly better than other weapons. It definitely feels more useful than other dps bombs, as without the knockback, its more forgiving in where you place it. Unlike with nitro, you won't send enemies careening into your allies if you're being reckless.
The bomb aoe isn't perfect however, so placement is still important. And haze bombs still seem more effective in arenas.
Definitely has a unique niche, and is very useful.
Yes, it's smaller than the hazes, but it seems to last about the same amount of time. The advantage you get is that, while status resists can make haze clouds less effective, no amount of shadow defense will counter the chain-flinching - the only thing the target can do is leave the particle field, which is exactly the point.
I can pass through the Retribution Radius easily. Of course, I getting hit too but the damage is not too much like about 3 bar - 6 bar.
One thing i noticed though, The spheres don't hit Royal minis.
But looks cool. The sound effect is kinda annoying though.
Those poor Jellies, I personally saw them (including JK) being decimated by the swirlies...
Chain it with a vortex. I dare you.
I am getting my bomber set finished because there is now a no-knockback DPS shadow and pierce bomb (can cover every monster family while neutral to undead and contruct). More party friendly bombers have become.
Dark Retribution is amazing, with medium damage trink and medium CTR. Wow, I cannot even imagine what max CTR and max damage will be like. Can position on turrets which is like a non-howlitzer turret guaranteed death when you position it right.
I want a gun with an awesome mechanic liek this har T.T
I run Volc. Demo Helm/ Mad Bomber Suit with a Elite Boom Focus and it is indeed ridiculous, RJP especially. The final room on Red Carpet Runaround? Yeah, Drop 3-4 pre emptively and one as they appear, the gunpuppies dont even spawn completely.
very overpowered on slime levels. I have some trouble with hitting t3 gremlins with the shield sometimes but still works. Turrets don't stand a chance except for the shadow turrets.
I bullied royal jelly while testing this bomb, seriously royal jelly dies in like 20sec.......
Very powerful bomb but don't know if it's a bug that it doesn't hit the small purple jellies though, but it definitely hit the small yellow ones though.
I don't like it. Simply because I can't have it. DX
I've spent enough money on this game in my opinion and it saddens me that the only bomb that is geared for slimes must purchased.
Oh well, there's always the nitronome.... >:P
Overpowered, and I have. Jiggles went down in about 30-45 seconds in a 3 man team with one poison vial thrown. We were clearing rooms in RCR in SECONDS because of it. And this was with one bomber spamming it-- imagine a team on a shadow weak level!
Not only that, its effectiveness increases exponentially with multiple drops and is absolutely fatal to stationary targets. Gentle(wo)men, we have our turret slayer.
