I will never buy one until I can buy them with CE.

This concept is the whole reason I started playing this game in the first place, and why I've constantly hyped it to all my friends. This was a f2p game that didn't step on the faces of the players that couldn't spend cash themselves, because every CE that gets spent is CE that was ultimately purchased with cash by SOMEONE. Big spenders will be big spenders, and those players that can't afford to be big spenders benefit from them and both ensure the other enjoys the game and keeps playing- and keeps paying. This works very well in EVE Online as well, and I was thrilled to see another game impliment it. Please don't take that away. Don't become just yet another Zynga.

Addin' in my two cents

Such rewards would be perfectly fine if they were only cosmetic.

But they are completely new weapons with stats, even if they were USELESS we should still be able to gain access to them somehow.

I don't think it's fair how those of us who can't afford to buy the expansion has to miss out on the opportunity for amazing new items and enemies.

Sure, it can cost a lotta CE, but as long as it's obtainable, that's all I'll ever ask for such a thing.

I think it should be

I think it should be available for 1600ce or less. There is no reason to punish players that already bought ce for 5$ before instead of buying the expansion for 4 now. It was even advertised as being unlockable with CE, so quite a few players might have taken advantage of the special CE deal that directly preceded the update.

It should definitely cost

It should definitely cost more than 1600 ce. It gives out 2 5 star weapons, and it cost around 1500 ce to upgrade a 2 star into a 5 star (i think). So thats 3000 ce right there. And you are able to do it more than 1 time, and you can only do shadow lairs one time for 1800 ce, so how about add another 600 ce to that? thats 2400 ce right there. There's also a mask you craft, so why not add in another 600 ce. All in all, thats a total of 6000 ce. 6000 ce is just high enough to make me want to pay for ce without feeling obligated. And plus, 6000 ce cost much more than 4 dollars, so i think in my opinion they could make more money doing this.

I agree. I feel very disappointed that the content is pay only. I'm beginning to feel afraid that if they're starting this model, more and more new content will be pay-only, which would upset me even further and I wouldn't be interested in playing Spiral anymore. I do not always have money to throw at online games which is why I'm playing a free-to-play game in the first place.

Please make it possible to pay CE for the expansions, even if it's a large amount.

But the Market.

The Market price needs to stay level somehow
However, there's a perfectly unharmed prestige system they could make a content unlock system out of it.

Theory: People are happy that if you can't buy something, you can work your way to it.
Buying CE with cr= Working your way to [whatever it is you want to buy/craft]
Prestige= Working your way to [unspecified future content]
^Prestige@[Set prestige number] = Content unlock
^^Idea: Content= A bit of O:CH
No money making potential? Make a Prestige booster, we don't do half the supply missions anyway.

Even if it's only tier 1 as a preview, people want to play what's been developed, not press their nose against a glass window.
--

"There's also a mask you craft, so why not add in another 600 ce"
Jeez the mask already costs 800CE to craft e.e
The wiki says all 3 do (Not sure if bug or srs)
Not many people have 400Kcr lying around, also 1600CE=$6, 6KCE=$20 (approx). Just no, Serell you may aswell just buy the expansion if you don't feel obligated to pay $20.

@Metrulizer : Ok, i may have placed it a bit high, but i would rather pay a high price of CE than have no other option. I Don't have a credit card, and my parents don't like using their credit card online.

@Metrulizer : Haha, sorry,

@Metrulizer : Haha, sorry, should have explained that better. My parents don't like to use their credit card online, but i can occasionally get them to use it for me. But there are lots of of stuff of different stuff i like to buy that can only be bought online, and since they only use their credit card for me so often ( maybe like once every 6 months), i would rather just be a F2P player on SK. Oh and i guess i still kinda contradicted myself on a few things.

Ok, im just going to start over :

I would like another option to get the expansion, and i would like for it to be less than 6000 ce. There.

As long as the option exists

As long as the option exists at all, I don't care what they price it at.

From the mother of a boy

I am thoroughly repulsed by the new "Expansion Missions". Sadly, it comes as no surprise. I am no stranger to games geared towards children and made to screw the parent. In '08 when my son wanted to play his first virtual world game I chose Jump Start thinking it was a safe option and since they said they were releasing the Mac compatible version "Soon" I called and got an estimated time of 2 months, I bought a 2 year subscription. Much to my horror the years came and went and we were never able to play. The Mac version was just released in '11. Because of that I pay attention and felt I had become pretty good at deciphering the cryptic wording online games use to sucker parents in. Last year I allowed my son to join LEGO Universe. I heard rumors they were closing but their website assured us "We plan on being here for at least ten years and hopefully many more." Thrilled, my son poured his heart into the game and his heroes became a part of him; Six months later I have $120 less in my bank account, a son who has worked his virtual little butt off to earn the things he wanted in a game he loved. Then they announced they'd be shutting down and when he said "No!! They lied they said it was going to be here for at least 10yrs." I was given the task of TRYING to explain to him; no, they didn't lie they just misled us. As if that's better than lying, isn't that what we all try to teach our kids, misleading is just as bad as lying? When my son asked to sign up for this game I thought NO WAY but I looked at it and saw "Spiral Knights is free to play, no subscription is required to enjoy everything the game has to offer." EVERYTHING?! It was so refreshing to FINALLY find something that was fair to all players. We signed up and I was amazed at what a wonderful game it was. Sure the people who pay are able to level up faster and attain things more easily but money or no money EVERYONE was capable and allowed to enjoy all aspects of the game. If you buy energy you get special looking things but that's life, the bottom line was you could be standing next to someone decorated with "special" items but it didn't change his stats, underneath they were both equal. Teaching them that it's not always easy and money can help but no matter what we are ALL capable of attaining the same things and granted the same opportunities even though you may have to work harder than others. This month I had some extra money and wanted to do my part in making sure this game stayed open. I allowed him to spend $100 this first month to give him a jump start and it did. Now we're introduced to "Expansion Missions" that can ONLY be unlocked with real money. Do the Expansion Missions not fall under "everything the game has to offer" category? Or is it the "No subscription is REQUIRED" part that I need to explain to my son? Please don't tell me that I have to tell my son "No, I'm sorry you can't have all those cool new items because I don't have more money to give you. No, you can't earn your right to those missions (via CE or Crowns) because your hard work just isn't good enough anymore." Here let me stand up so you have a clear shot while you sucker punch me. So now this awesome "Free" game begins it's decent to group with other countless games where children who's parents just can't afford to open the Expansion Missions get to walk around feeling slighted, sad, and part of a lesser class. Other players won't want to team with them because their weapons aren't "good enough". There has got to be another way. Please, fix this because I fear this will be the beginning of your downward spiral. My final thought is something a little boy I know said, from the mouths of babes "Have they learned nothing from the heroes they've created?"

This definitely needs to make it in for non steam players to be able to get it via CE, just dont go too crazy on the price, keep it around 3k CE and no higher or you'll get a ton of complaints from F2P players not happy with being overcharged relative to paying players.

You wanna know what i said when i couldn't get O:CH?

!@*^%)@($%^~)(&@$^

Why? Because the whole reason I got into SK is because I could do anything that the people who pay do, and still contribute to the fiscal system. F2P players are the ones supplying all the hoards of CR for the CE market. We are helping, and with out us, a lot of things wouldn't be here.

Really, Cr trade promotes the buying of CE... so, make it like the color changes... kind of...

My friend was super nice and got me the pack, and it is most definatly worth all 5$ that it will cost... but we F2P cant really do anything about it. If it did not have any gear to give, it would be better... So what i Suggest: When the sale ends, allow the mission to be bought with 10k CE. This promotes sales by quite a bit: you want it asap? Buy it. You want it cheaper? Buy it. You need More CE for the crafting of an awesome helm? You died and have no cr? Buy it. It still still give a massive benefit to P2Pers, and allows F2Pers to get it with alot of work... 63,000,000cr worth of work.

Angrily,
~Tsu

O rly?

And with the relase of missions Nick said "they will be unlockable with CE" and how did it end up? Changed to "with purchase".

And saying he is working on it? He also added "it may be impossible". Alone adding that just show how much they are eager to do it, a dev says something could be impossible. It can take TIME but saying something is impossible just show that they really dont care and dont want to do it.

@Diamonddefender read this part correctly "No subscription is REQUIRED" which means that anything like WoW

@Asukalanforum it isn't just adding a bunch of code it's like building a roller coster within a day which your suggesting

@Thebronzeking
But noone says that its IMPOSSIBLE to build roller coster. While we see that they are even letting a possibility that this can be impossible to implement.

Impossible = Dont want to do it

Its like they are just giving an excuse for future to announce "sorry we tried but it cant be done, we know we have official client but you should all abandon it and go to steam, thank you, devs"

At the very least, paid

At the very least, paid accounts (or paid $X within the last X days) should be able to buy it with CE
Some people bought CE thinking O:CH would be released with a CE price tag

Ok someone just deleted my well thought out reply to Asukalan....maybe that's a subtle message saying "DFTT"

I'll just rewrite it without that word in it, and with an even more positive attitude (it was already pretty non-aggressive....deleting the whole post seemed a bit excessive but it's my fault for slipping up)

@Asukalanforum

It's a social manipulation method, saying impossible.

It prevents rioters like you from nagging them to get it done.
It's perfectly possible, but letting the community know that there's any hope to get it done will just cause the community to get eager...then impatient, then restless, then irritated. It's easier just to quell the people with a "It's impossible" and later bring it out as a nice surprise, "HEY everyone, we can do it now!" and everyone is happy, rather than get the impatient community's hopes up for something that may take longer than they think it might.

It could take months, they could have lots of work set up for them, and deadlines don't wait. Nick has plenty reason to change his post, and you've agreed to let him:

"5. Content Transmission.
You understand
that the technical processing and transmission of the Services, including your Participatory Content and Public Content, may involve (i) transmissions over various networks; and (ii) changes to conform and adapt to technical requirements of connecting networks or devices.

A.K.A steam is a pain to make several parts of a game compatible with, and to have multiple methods of payment through several different sites such as paypal, google checkout, not to mention integrating their own transaction programming into the game takes TIME. THAT'S SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO GIVE.

Still angry? Think of it this way then. Paying players get access to the content first, as a privelage and a thankyou to them paying money for the game. Soon after, free to play players get access to the content once it has all been ironed out, bug tested and completed.
