This issue cannot just be thrown away. It must be dealt with.
Pros of 2-29 patch:
-New weapons
-More content
-LOCKDOWN IMPROVED
• Heres why: The greatest threats in lockdown are Voltaic tempest, Shivermist Flourishes, Gran Faust, and now the Rocket Hammer.
The damage types therefore include: Shock, freeze piercing, shadow, and a hell of a lot of elemental.
Players have a choice. They could copy Chris, and protect themselves against piercing, shock, and freeze; this leaves them vulnerable to elemental and shadow though. Second is the Divine veil with max freeze resist. Protection against elemental, shock, freeze, and shadow. The downside is that they will be susceptible to piercing.
The third option is going hybrid: Let's take your average Vog/Skolver hybrid, and give them a max shock on each piece. Protection against piercing, elemental, shock. Weak against shadow and freeze. Also, they would still suck against everything but shock, since semi-protection doesn't do crap, so they can go die.
The solution to lockdown: Triple maxes.
Even double maxes wouldn't work.
Skolver set w/ Max shock and shadow: Weak to elemental still.
There are no sets that would survive even with a double max, not even divine veil (hybrid sets ruled out since they suck compared to pure sets.
Triple max: Skolver set with max shadow, elemental, and shock. Protection against everything.
Problem is, you would need to spend far too much money to obtain a triple max (or even a double max for that matter): I'm talking over $20,000. If you spend over that much on a game, and you don't get any gains from it, you seriously are in need of a life.
Lockdown segment: TL;DR: Lockdown diversity increased due to OP elemental weapon introduced. Only solution = triple maxes.
Pros of 2-29 patch cont.
-more p2p players pay money
-possible migration of a small % of f2p-p2p maybe, because of long-awaited new content.
Cons:
-people quitting game (p2p and f2p alike)- losing $$$
-unhappy playerbase (both f2p and p2p)
-Exclusive weapons too OP compared to existing ones
Some of the more simple-minded forum-trollers (you know who you are) might see that the cons list is much shorter then the pros list, and use this to justify their undoubtedly stupid argument that the update is fair. However, upon further inspection, the first two cons are equivalent to losing player satisfaction. Losing player satisfaction is huge, and will most definitely have a negative effect on revenue from the players.
Sustaining a constant stream of $$$ from players means you must satisfy all of them. Only catering to the p2p population is a terrible move, because p2pers and f2pers are NOT separate. They play together, and have connections with each other. Throwing the f2pers under the bus means you at also doing the same to their PAYING friends. Ex: Nicoya's unfortunate departure led many others to quit the game, only because of the update. This most definitely includes p2pers and f2pers who have left.
TL; DR
In order to keep high revenue, one must satisfy ALL of their customers (term used loosely), including f2p and p2p.
Now, for the solution to the issues at hand.
1) Quitting players and Arguments in the forums
2) Loss of player satisfaction in the game
These are the two issues that need solving. The solution?
First off, it you go through the key argument threads, you will most definitely find that THEY have posted there. These two trolls are undoubtedly the main sources of the forums disruption. But you can't blame them; they have nothing better to do with their non-existent lives.
I say make the DLC available to EVERY SINGLE PLAYER. I don't care how this is done; through steam, making it buyable with CE, or whatever; every player must be satisfied. This will guarantee that both p2pers and f2pers will not be inclined to quit the game: it will also lead to the good suck up threads for Nick. :)
Thanks Demon. Fixed
