I bit the bullet and linked my SK account with Steam so I can use the trade, but I play on other computers sometimes, and having to install Steam on all of them would be extremely annoying.

I read some time ago some time ago that if you log onto the forums and click the 'Facebook' button (without actually linking your account to FB) on a stand-alone SK, you can log in through the SK forums and bypass Steam. However, this doesn't work for me. When I click the button, a tab saying "You are now logged in, please return to Spiral Knights." opens in my browser and SK says "Connecting to Facebook in your Web Browser. Please wait..." Nothing happens after that, though.

Does Facebook log in work for you guys?

Dunno. I had mine connected

Dunno. I had mine connected initially but since months ago, I enter my username and password manually because the support portal wasn't working with facebook login.

It should work, it does for me, and I do exactly what you described.

One advice: the game may crash if you try to buy energy from the depot.

Sometimes...

It can be a long wait. But I don't like having to rely on it.

I've been on since before(!) it was a sSteam game. I like having the flexibility to play on different computers without having to install a third-party platform and rely on said platform. Myl's comment only solidifies my own feelings about Steam's inconvenience for my own situation. Not to say that I hate Steam (far from it, I love their sales and all-in-one package) but it just doesn't work for me with Spiral Knights.

Use the stand alone client, when you open it up, click login with facebook, it should minimize the game, open your browser and direct you to login page, at this time click login with steam and once it does that it should log you into game. Also NOTE do not open the energy market at all or even click on it, it will freeze the game and cause it to crash.

@ Shortnstubby: Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, it doesn't work, since if I use the 'log in with Steam' thing, all it does is fill the user name with steam:-bunch of numbers- and doesn't actually log me in.

@ Gesanna: Java is indeed enabled in my browser. I can launch SK fine from the Play link and log in with alts (web account) as well. Thanks for the thought though!
