Pretty sure it was intended

Pretty sure it was intended so that you can throw their equipment away from them and wail at them whilst they are defenceless, as otherwise they are a royal pain in the neck to deal with.

Actually it's not that hard

Actually it's not that hard to deal with. U can throw fire pots at them even in front of them and they will be dis armed. I have yet to use charge combusted attack on them . Their shield will drop once they are on fire .

I must admit I was slightly

I must admit I was slightly disappointed to find that picking them up did not in fact grant you the ability to use them. :(

Ya, my first idea was to use them as shields from other mortars, since you hold it above your head and they never break, lol

Died trying :(

Mist bombs work wonders

Mist bombs work wonders against them, since they drop their shield and mortar after a certain number of hits and not a certain number of damage, a mist bomb tries to re-apply the status effect very rapidly, and each time it tries to re-apply, it counts as another hit, so it makes them drop it almost instantly.

How do you force them to drop

How do you force them to drop their gear anyway? Seems completely random to me, as a swordsman.
