I currently plan on acquiring a Hail Driver, and Umbra Driver. Hail is for general usage as a soloist and Umbra is for shadow damage. Note that I don't want a Nova Driver because I already have a Polaris and Argent Peacemaker and don't feel like I need another pure damage elemental gun.

But are Magma and Storm Driver worth considering as well? Imo, the Magma makes you feel like you're toying with your enemies instead of killing them faster and the Storm doesn't seem as effective as a Voltaic Tempest (which I already have).

They are good guns, if you

They are good guns, if you lack an elemental dps gun. But since you already have an ap, it might not be as useful.

As far as statuses go on alchemers, the damage from the status will, most of the time, not make up for the damage difference compared to nova.

Polaris? AP?

Why hail driver? Ricochets tend to break the freeze (I witnessed this happening at least 3/5 times) unless you aim where you don't make the bullet ricochet back into the enemy. Furthermore, you have Polaris (even better for soloing IMO) and AP is just... already an awesome elemental gun. As far as alchemers go, get voltech if you don't have a polaris line if you want the shock and elemental, magma can be neglected for nova driver, umbra can't be compared since it's the lone alchemer that does a totally different damage, and hail... unless you plan on shooting directly in front of enemies instead of the usual to-the-right so the bullet ricochets back into the enemy, you are better off getting a shivermist or glacius for freeze.

Sentenza might make a good alternative to Umbra now that it does full shadow, but umbra still has the advantage of being able to out DPS it. Magma can be ditched for nova. Storm... you already own polaris. Hail... well I won't comment further since I'm not exactly a fan of it.

As a little side note, Magma may or may not be worth getting as well if you plan on melting Ice jellies.

they are good guns

storm's great for lockdown (if people still play that imbal game...). also storm's awesome in FSC because all the zombies are clustered.

magma can out dps the nova against groups of enemies. you need to set one on fire, the move on to the next one and set that on fire.

Remember that damage mods

Remember that damage mods don't raise the status effects damage so if you are planning to use 2 elite trueshots you are always better off with Nova.

Magma driver one of the most

Magma driver one of the most potent guns because of proc avarage 50ish in t2 and 100 ish in t3 every 2 sec for 8 sec and with charge it capeable of 1shotting undeads, constructs even jellies cubes and fiends occosionally so it's decent enough
Just because initial bullet damage 30% low doesn't mean doing less dps then any other alchemer it outdps it's associates easly against multiple targets.

Ps: fire proc buggy on 4* does low dmg and remmeber it's a fire and forget gun rather then direct dmg out put it is damage over time it's like ashes of agni atttached on a gun ;)

From personal experience,

From personal experience, Magma is more powerful than Nova whenever there is more than one target. Magma is also more effective when there are neutral targets in a group (Silkwings hanging around a clump of Lumbers, for example). You need 4 targets in a clump for Storm to outdamage Magma, which doesn't happen that much with Drivers.
