I already heard about it, but i never knew what the "paid account" title did. Does somebody here know what a paid account do?

yes. ok say that you have 2 people that play spiral knights on the same computer ok? now say that the other can't play because the other used up all the mist energy, well when you purchase crystal energy or an expansion mission you no longer have to share mist energy, :D

The only perks currently are separate mist pool and preview server access (only if you've had paid over $9.95 in last 30 days)

Not much, you just get a few perks that F2P players normally wouldn't get. But that's because you spend money right?
I dunno if it's specific to Steam but I am a paying player through Steam and found Spiral Knights through Steam. So yeeeee. :D
