Who on earth IS this person?

Because this is the second forum (out of two I've visited today) where it's been posted. I don't get it.

I support.

This didn't use to be known to me until this morning but now I can say that I do know now and I am disgusted not only at what they have done to these kids but the fact I didn't notice this earlier. So I have made my pledge at http://invisiblechildren.com I am now one of the knowing and I want to make sure everyone knows now. I support his plan to make this known and I will be there, April 20th 2012. With my next paycheck comes my donation towards this program. Fellow Spiral Knights, take a moment to pay for a Kony Kit instead of a Battle Pack and support the end of Child warfare, please. I'll admit, even being a guy, I cried. I cried when I saw how Jacob wept for his dead brother.

This has been around for a

This has been around for a very long time and it's so sad. I helped out when invisible children came to oklahoma and had a protest to get one of our senators to sign so the USA could help these people. He finally signed. Now, something is trying to be done and finally getting around for help.

they need and are asking for help. This isn't the usa coming in and taking over or anything... they are asking for our help so these children can finally be children again and live peacefully.

*sigh*

Hope you guys realize that video pretty much is propaganda embodied.

Think about it. Rewatch the video and tell me how much time he spends talking about what Kony does. I mean directly. Indirectly he says "Look at this cute kid! Isn't he cute! Look at this suffering! This cute kid could be suffering like this!"

Also... why support Uganda? Kony left Uganda a while ago, he is hiding, most likely, in some forest in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In addition, Uganda is rather infamous for its corruption. It's military in particular is corrupt... so now we are supporting said military to fight an enemy that isn't even in Uganda anymore? By the way, did I mention that Uganda is debating over a bill, nicknamed the "Kill the Gays bill," that would give homosexuals the death penalty (i.e. execution)? So lets send money and support to Uganda! Clearly we wont regret it.

Another thing I want to mention: We are trying to get America to prance right into another poor nation, flaunting its military might in pursuit of one man. That clearly worked WONDERFULLY last time we tried it.

Before I get the potential backlash... I don't support Kony or anything he does. He is a terrible person, I cannot and will not deny that. What I'm trying to say is that this really is blatant propaganda. There is a disturbingly HUGE amount of people who aren't bothering to fact check or at least look slightly deeper than the surface.

Also, The main reason why I'm cynical is because he pretty much says "Here are children in pain! Help the children in pain!" Children suffering is so, completely, and utterly cliche that it makes me want to smash my head into the desk in frustration. HOWEVER, if I say "I really dont care about children dying," then I come off as the previously-unknown spawn of Hitler and Lord Voldemort.

I guess I'll bump this

I guess I'll bump this because I find this kind of sad... and no, I'm not talking about what I see in the video. The cause is valid, but the advertisement is not.
I'm going to explain some cons, as was also explained by Traevelliath:
-Do we really want to send troops into Uganda, after everything that's happening?
-Scandals have arisen regarding the authenticity of the organization's profits.
-Look at the prices of each thing.
-Why would this guy be explaining this to his little kid? No, don't tell me, because he needs to learn when he's young? There are certain things a child needs to learn to be able to think about such a controversial topic.
-Do we want to disregard the feelings of the Ugandans?
-So... anyone know where Kony has been now? In hiding for years, with his little force of what's left of the LRA. Why provoke him now?
-This spreads the name of a man, even if it's a "bad light", he's getting publicity for his murderous actions
-The advertisement ploys with human emotions (crying/emotional children, a common goal, creating a common enemy)

Don't tell me I'm heartless for my statements. Disagree if you wish. However, I've had people curse me out for this opinion. This video has created more harm than good. I watched my neighbors see the video, not knowing who Kony was, but wanted to buy everything. They told me it was wrong, US troops should go to Uganda. Apparently, he thought they can't handle themselves. After that, I decided to shed some light on Kony when I can. He fell to it, and I'd rather not have people hate Kony in ignorance. Do research and be educated! I spent a full hour learning about Kony before I watched this video so I could be realistic. I checked with many of those who shared the Kony video and picture, asking who Kony was and what exactly he did. Nobody knew. So for now, I'll show the bad aspects of the video, even if it is for a good cause. Don't think I'm stuck up for these thoughts, I just hate people being blinded.

tl;dr - There is none. This important and I recommend reading this, think about it, and maybe doing research on Kony.

I don't support the KONY 2012 campaign

Before everyone throws rotten apples and sheep dung at me, I do agree with everyone the Kony is a bad person and should be stopped. However, go on their site and they tell you that only 33% of profits go towards helping Africa. The rest is salaries, travel, food, and MORE ADS.

This is what they do:
Make videos
To get more money
To pay workers and make more ads
To make more money
To pay workers and make more ads
To make more money
To pay workers and make more ads

Etc.

I do agree the Kony should be stopped, but there are better charities than one where they spend almost all their money on salaries and movies and the co-founder or someone gets arrested (see post above).

There are plenty of charities that actually focus on HELPING children, not just paying salaries and making ads. Donate to those charities, not Invisible Children.
