No, they do not shoot Hedgehogs that would be stupid.

I'm actually suggesting guns that use soundwaves to attack foes:

General traits:
Clip Size: 2
Traits: No stopping to fire in spite of the clip size, and not much reload slowdown either.
Bullets look like soundwaves (okay, more like a bunch of translucent concentric disks/rings in a line) and are really fast. Kind of like Magnus bullets but no Stun and little to no knockback on hitting enemies.

Charge attack is an AoE "pulse" effect with an appropriate sound effect to the gun.

Starts as

3*
Name: Noiserocker
Damage: Normal (Bonus to Slime, presumably because Slimes wobble too much when they get hit by it)
Charge attack's sound effect is a single loud tone of sound.

Can upgrade to (gonna skip coming up with intermediaries and give you the 5* forms directly)

Name: Fangarang
Damage: Pierce
Flavor Text: "This gun is built using analysis of voice samples of the Roarmulus roar. This was much harder than expected on account of the roar paralyzing everyone who experienced it in it's full force"
Charge attack's sound effect is an aggressive bass-ridden sound that sounds like a distorted Roarmulus roar

Name: Robotrocker
Damage: Normal (Bonus to Constructs)
Flavor Text: "This gun is built using analysis of the signals Constructs throughout the clockwork use. It consequently hits them harder and stronger. You'll want this even when you're not dealing with Constructs because it's still better and faster than the standard Noiserocker"
Charge attack's sound effect is (undecided)

Name: Mauscannon
Damage: Normal (Bonus to Undead)
Flavor Text: "A Noiserocker upgraded using data obtained from analysis of Electronic Voice Phenomenon. Be sure to raise this gun when facing... you know, like ghosts and stuff."
Charge attack's sound effect is (undecided)

Charged attack?
I would like it to be 360 mass push ( similar to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32mDCVXvsnc on 27 sec ). And normal shots should spread a lil bit ( guess same angle as autogun normal attack will do fine) and travel through monsters causing slight push. More tacticks ,less damage.

And 1 more thing: Make Fangarang Normal with db versus beast.

That could work, Triplescrew,

That could work, Triplescrew, but for the spread angle I think going for something a little smaller than the autogun's spread... and I think we should keep the Fangarang as Pierce Damage.

Why?I had come up with this line as a suggestion/proposal for filling the hole of pierce damage handguns that don't seriously cut your mobility.

Besides, it's practically a Snarby gun. All the Snarby weaponry is Pierce damage.

What should the guns look like? I think the base form (Noiserocker) should look like an Alchemer/Pulsar cross but the entire front of the gun is now a speaker. And the upgrades should have appropriate decals/small embellishments/recoloring.

Also... anyone got any other ideas for variants/other possible upgrades on this thing?

HAHAHAHA!

You had to know this was coming the moment you said Snarby Gun.

But decent design...

@Mejezfeld

This idea seems pretty solid except for the lack of a charge attack description. My main objection is that this gun seems like a modified Magnus that you can kite with...

I kind of agree with Triplescrew on Fangarang being normal damage, though. I guess my reasoning is that Robotrocker and Mau5cannon are normal damage with bonuses, so Fangarang should be the same. If it did piercing and had the beast damage bonus, Fangarang would be the obvious choice of alchemy paths on this gun.

Final note: You generally can't see sound waves, but I think we all kind of know what you're aiming for :P

@Schattentag but I DIDN'T

@Schattentag
but I DIDN'T give the Fangarang Pierce+Beast Bonus, just the Pierce.

I will admit that it does SOUND like a modified Magnus, but then again the Snarble Barb line is basically a modified Flourish that doesn't toss you around with the charge attack. Also note that I never said the bullets were anything like that of the Magnus. They're not solid bullets for one, so they probably won't do the same "Knock stuff down" thing the Magnus has. And also note the lack of any kind of status, Stun or otherwise.

Also note that SEVERAL weapons in this game change damage type and enemy bonus type on upgrading, so it isn't that much of a stretch that it goes from Normal+Bonus to Vanilla Piercing.

and the reason I never put a charge attack in is because I didn't come up with one... and the only kind of charges I can think of as being appropriate for a gun like this come off as Blast Bomb-style AoE attacks.

@Tsubasa
Yeah, that's a pretty solid idea for a possible Snarb gun, but mine has a reference in it ;)

Oops.

Sorry, for some reason I sort of just assumed it had the damage bonus since the other ones did, I guess.

As for your other notes on bullet type and status - noted!

If you come up with a firmer concept of the charge attack, this could be a thing. I think the most fitting charge would probably be an AoE pulse-like thing, so perhaps add it to the OP?

Last thing: anyone want to do concept art for this?

I updated the OP. I'd love to

I updated the OP. I'd love to do the concept art myself but frankly my skills seem to turn rubbish when dealing with guns or trying to design weaponry most of the time so I'll leave it up to someone else

for added awesomeness someone can even try and come up with what the sound effects for the charge attacks should sound like

good stuff man, good stuff, ill try to make it look cool ~ cause usually, typical concular "wave" type range weapons dont look all that cool

Heres an idea, its stupid, but it might be interesting

When used in PvP, Whenever the gun deals damage to a player,
That player's computer would start generating very irritating noises,
either through the speakers(for loss-less audio irritation) or through the motherboard(so you cannot turn it off).
Thus actually impairing their ability to play the game.

Processing Thoughts of You Always

@Evning: Solution? Take off headphones.

/trollface

On another note, I could do with a Sonic gun that fires rolled-up hedgehogs. It would do piercing damage and be ttly badass.

@Aureate

thats why i was also thinking about those system beeps you hear from your motherboard, but i am not sure if a program running in an os can make a system call to the bios to generate the beeps =p

or even if the motherboard allows even the os to generate those beeps >.<

it would sound almost like a dial-up connection, only less pleasant =p

i hope i am not thread-jacking.

on a side note, a hedgehog that shoots out all its spikes after a certain distance? wouldn't that be cool =p

I don't think a motherboard

I don't think a motherboard speaker can even remotely handle that much bass.

You dun need bass to be irritating =p

of course if you wanted low frequencies for the brown note you would need bass

But higher frequencies can be irritating too.

Um, I was gonna say something to answer to that... but that would mean having to explain my joke(s), thus ruining them.

so uh, never mind. Have a hamburger made out of tiny hotdogs
