Anti- Fiend Setup

Getting clobbered by fiends is horrendous...But eventually, fighting fiends is inevitable given I'm still loyal to the clockworks. (And don't comment on this cause its off topic.)

So I went ahead and grabbed myself a new shiny setup of gear to make life easier on me against devils and bats and the whatnot:

Angelic Helm
Angelic Raiment
Heavy Plate Shield w/ UV Shadow Low (Really don't feel like buying another shield for such a specialized set.)
Flourish
Antigua
Radiant Sun Shards

The end result I want is:

Valkyrie Helm
Valkyrie Mail
(Any shield. Most likely a VPS w/ shadow low as I plan on taking that heavy plate shield to VPS and making it a FSC shield)
Final Flourish
Argent Peacemaker
Radiant Sun Shards

Reasoning behind each piece of gear:
Valk Mail + Helm: Nice shadow resist and VH fiend
Final Flourish: I simply would rather not grind snarby another 6 or so times to get a pure pierce sword. I figured this and BTB are similar enough stat wise to be interchangeable, especially since I rarely, if ever, charge a sword.
Argent Peacemaker: Neutral on fiends, and great against undead, who also seem to pop up alot with fiend strata. (Dark City, Infernal Passages, etc)
Radiant Sun Shards: Fully heated, and keeps in tune with my usual bomber self. Has a sweet and quick charge time, and can fill the room with projectiles. Tacking on its Fiend H to a Valk VH gives me Fiend Max on this weapon.

So any parts of this layout I should reconsider? 4th weapon slot is out of the question for now, but maybe in the future. But anything I should reconsider with this setup? (Remember, its only an anti-fiend niche setup, and not something I'll normally use.)

Loadout looks fine. But the shield...

If it rarely breaks as you use it, then please continue to, by all means. But if you find that the shadow low is too low:

Dread skelly has craftable low *'s you can take advantage of. A cheap shadow shield, so to speak. Or you can grind vana for a blackened crest, then upgrade it to a crest of almire. An equally good shadow shield, with a different set of status resist. A better set to some, since fire and shock fiends are more dangerous than poison fiends.

Yeah, get a dread skelly.

You really don't want a broken shield for Fiends.

Looks solid otherwise. Maybe consider picking up a UVed Flourish. They're cheap--I see Fiend Hs go for 10-25kcr quite frequently, and VHs for a few hundred to under 1k CE.

You may want to consider

You may want to consider Shivermist Buster. While I don't use my shiv a lot (not a big fan of freeze) I had my best fiend moment with a shiv. My partner died within a "kill zone" and I had left the entrance barrier with only 1 hit and no pills (he had a pill, but I couldn't get to it). I stepped through and dropped a shiv and walked out. Charged my Combuster and stepped in where the fiends couldn't hit me (since they were all facing the barier) and single shot ~10-12 of them. Really cleared out the room. You couldn't have done it any other way really.

I would also go with a shadow shield if your plate shield doesn't hold up. I have Crest of Almire and it works really well. My brother has Dread Skelly. You really can't go wrong with either, but I tend to think shock is the worst fiend type of them all. Although freeze and poison can be just as deadly as shock and fire.

Also, just a thought. If you want to do FSC or fire fiends and don't have armor for it already, this is going to be useless there (extremely high fire weakness). I actually use Crown of the Fallen + Snarbolax for my fiend outfit to get a neutral fiend damage affect with no bad negative resistances. I would not suggest running double fallen gear since that is a huge loss in damage output. If you don't want to get snarbolax, you can always get fallen + Valkyrie for a more neutral set.

I know it is really underrated

But I highly highly recommend the Callahan as a anti-fiend weapon.

I personally am a Bomber/Swordie combo, but honestly, Callahan has been invaluable especially with some latency issues or if you need to get some distance.

They flinch and have a chance of stunning when hit (and every hit is pretty dead on). It stops them throwing things in time for another bullet.

I really do prefer the cally to the AP when it comes to fiends, but it is definitely a more niche weapon for me.

You could also try DBB but that is more dangerous and risky xD

i suggest a shadow shield...

i suggest a shadow shield... remember they deal mainly shadow damage and your shield takes a beating
i have a skelly shield and i can take a bit of pounding, Crest of Almire is also an option (and i advice using this in shock stratums actualy) alltough it has lower normal defence (if i'm right it should hold on a bit longer against shock fiends)

the gun, i use the same (i was hoping that OOO would make it pure piercing like the antigua and make a complete new line for elemental or for the piercing) some people say the blitzneedle but that will just make you targetpractise for devil-it's and you will shock to death without ever getting the chance to hit a second one.

the sword, eighter one you pick doesn't matter realy. i would advice to go for the BTB for its charge (can be of some use against fiends unlike FF) i just dislike the piercing weapons (the combo actualy) so i'm stuck using eighter my DA or levi.

or use the snarby bomb :D i hear it wreaks havoc on those litlle buggers haha

and on the armor, eighter shadow would do. Valkyrie is focused pure on fiends. think you'll be better of making a divine hood (fiend medium, ellemental/shadow) and a normal/shadow armor (i use snarby in fiend lvls but that might be out of the question)

last piece of advice, and lot's of people seem to forget this. greavers (the bat like status mist producing hellspawns) will stop their attack (charge) when you hit them (be it with a sword, gun or bomb) use this time to get away from other things around and draw them to you (so they won't surround you)

sorry for the long text haha

@Nordlead:

My FSC set is already planned out. As a bomber, I plan on using my RSS, 4* VT (plasma cap), and 4* DBB (Spike shower).

Currently I am using 2 pieces of Heavy Demo gear. They will go into either a Mad/Volc or Volc/Volc Setup.

The Valk Set is purely a niche setup for the occasional devilte/greaver level that is a pain to do without some serious shadow resists.

@Squishcat:

Flourish + RSS to take down fiends with this set. AP to snipe off undead that usually pop up with fiends.

That's how I plan on making this set do anyways...

May I suggest another type of

May I suggest another type of fsc loadout?

Rss
5* VT
Electron vortex.

You already have an rss, which dps's everything in fsc perfectly fine, no need for a spike shower. Electron vortex clumps together enemies rather well, both for your teammates and your rss. With some boom trinkets, they also deal a decent amount of damage. Solo, it only takes 2-3 vortexes to kill zombies. And you can combo rss for even more damage. With max ctr, you can do something like vortex>rss>rss>vortex.

I go full mad bomber, but if that is too dangerous, I suggest hybrid. It gives you a slightly positive fire resist, if I'm not mistaken.

Volc/mad hybrid
2 E. Boom dmg trinks

Max'd ctr on heated bombs, and max damage.

Just remember that fire

Just remember that fire fiends will still be extremely deadly due to the large negative fire resistance.

At the moment I am using

At the moment I am using something similar (Valkyrie Mail, Crown of the Fallen). The Fiend and Fire bonuses/penalties cancel each other out. Anyway, I still find T3 Fire Undead/Fiend levels to be tricky (particularly when solo). The fire really is lethal if you get hit without strong fire resistance.

If fire fiends are messing

If fire fiends are messing you up, try the divine mantle. The helm has a fiend damage bonus, and both pieces offer shadow and fire/shock. Lack of normal may hurt, though.
