I'm pretty sure at least one thread with a nearly identical purpose has already been posted but not that many of them. So I wanted to make my own, Simply post your opinion below and include the reasons you think knights are what they are. You will have three choices: Living, Cyborg, and Mechanical. Personally i vote for Living because of the reasons below:

The description of Rock Jelly Shield says it's an emergency source of calories for stranded knights.

The description of Rock Jelly Core says that Knights have lost many teeth trying to get to it's gooey center.

Most robots I've seen don't wear clothes like the wolver line and other cloth-based costumes and armor.

If they were robots our characters would look and act like Mecha Knights.

Overall Knights have too much humanity.

I'd say

I'd say that knight are some sort of organic bio-mechanical organism that has a larger degree of metal in it's cellular structure. They are similar to living organism in the sense that they can eat (rocky core, which also assume they have some source of taste buds). They inside structure shows that they have a heart with many wire which can possibly be similar to human blood arteries.

Cyborgs

I say Cyborgs because as you mentioned there's indication of food in the gear's descriptions.....I believe one of the volcanic salamander gear talks about coffee. There's also mention of breathing fresh air in one of the artifact descriptions. So clearly it would seem the knights have a biological component.

Also at the same time we see some robotic elements. Wearing the Dread Skelly Armor you can see the knight has only three fingers when about to throw a vial or charging a bomb. When wearing a gunslinger armor, they clearly have five fingers. This would indicate changing armor is changing body parts too. Energy being able to revive defeated knights would also suggest a robotic component.

Armor is described as power

Armor is described as power armor in some cases, so it might be that knights have actual bodies. Just how much of it is cyberized is unknown.

Based on the Blades of the

Based on the Blades of the Fallen mission, I propose we are little round jelly-like creatures that use the "helmet" as a cockpit, as with a small mecha we pilot.

When a new body is produced for you, the other knights just gather you into a bucket and pour you into the helmet.

I don't think all Knights are

I don't think all Knights are the same alien race. If you read the Recon Module for Ironclaw Munitions Factory Rulen says that he wouldn't be surprised if Grantz possessed a body made of iron. This could imply that he doesn't know the physical condition of his body or that he doesn't know the physical composition of his body. I don't think this theory has been discussed, but I am willing to entertain the idea that the Knights might come from different species!

They might be energy beings.

This is like the only topic i talk about on the forum =/

But from a picture i have, there is nothing under those armors.

I actually used to think they

I actually used to think they were robots when I first started playing, but I have begun to feel they are humanoid in the last few months.

Considering they also seem to die and possess souls like the Blades of the Fallen mission. As well I do believe a couple of the gremlin quests make comments about how when they capture knights they break their armor or sabotage their items. If they were robots, wouldn't the gremlins just dismantle them or adjust their programming to make them subservient?

Most of the Vitasuit

Most of the Vitasuit descriptions mention giving the bearer healthier nails or fresher breath and other such things, which implies they are probably organic.

Daleks.

Knights are Daleks. This explains everything, especially their penchant for weapons of mass destruction.

Thinking about going up against the doctor is scary.

But then again, we are unintentionally invading a planet.

...well, yes, we are invading a planet, which is probably why everything on it seems to hate us. Apart from the snipes, of course. (Or do they?)

A Doctor boss would be ttly badass though.
I call dibs on the sonic screwdriver!

@Aureate

i would liken it to events in recent history but i fear that will generate too much discontent >.<

you forgot about the strangers =p they seem to welcome us with open inventories =p
(again it mirrors recent history but nvm)

what would The Doctor mission arc be like? =p

time travelling missions?
Rose tyler, Donna Noble, the Ponds and River as mini bosses?
i prefer the tenth doctor personally but the ninth and eleventh have their charms =]
minions from unit or torchwood? =p

at the very least i bet it would drop good gunner stetsons =p
