I like the Idea of a hall of heroes, but why so many recipes?

I thought it was part of the gameplay to struggle for the recipes through basil, or buying them for a little bit more expensive at the AH also encouraging to merchant.

Now don't get me wrong, i'm fine with some basic recipes being at the hall of heroes, but why so many? I wonder what you all think about this

Should 3 rings reduce the amount of recipes at the hall of heroes? Keeping only the most basic ones perhaps?

There could be a basic list/line of recipes per character in Hall of Heroes:
For Example (In the final Hall of Heroes):
1 Helmet (line _-5*)
1 Armor (line _-5*)
1-3 Sword/Gun/Bomb (line_-5*)
1 Shield (line-5*)

It encourages players to go into clockworks to get recipes, or if they don't want to, buy it from the AH.

Depend on what you consider 'basic'.

Basic stuff was already

Basic stuff was already available, so adding "basic" stuff to the hall of heroes is redundant.

I think to say the point of gameplay was to struggle for recipes is a bit narrow. The point of gameplay is to enjoy the game, and advance in it. Advancement is made through gear, and crowns. The gear advancement just got a little easier, but not much. Yes, some recipes went for exorbitant prices, but with patience you could get any recipe on your own, or for just a bit more. This has narrowed that down, but you still have to find a way to earn all the crowns to buy them, then the crowns, mats, and energy to make them. So I don't really think it's killed the game. Sure, it knocked a bit off the market. But given that missions avoid terminal runs, I'm thinking that there may be fewer recipes out there anyways. So this balances that back out by making them more available.

Also by making recipes more readily available, I think it might tempt people to expand their gear selections, which is good for the game economy.

Aquajag: It's only good if there's an availability of those new gear pieces people want. Some players are upset that the player economy has been gutted by the Supply Depot and excessive unbinding costs.

I understand where you're

I understand where you're coming from, having used to use the recipes as money makers but now I have to say I prefer it this way since I now have easy access to all the recipes I need and missions make it easier for me to make money than arcade runs. So in turn, the energy I used to use for runs to get recipes is now being used for missions and I am profiting even more by cutting out the middle man!

@aquajagThe terminals have

@aquajag

The terminals have not only become redundant because of the missions, but also because of the hall of heroes. Don't you think it's a bit too much? Your explenation could be used as well if they just decided to put "all" the recipes in the hall of heroes.

"I think to say the point of gameplay was to struggle for recipes is a bit narrow. The point of gameplay is to enjoy the game, and advance in it. Advancement is made through gear, and crowns."

But there would obviously be a counter argument in the line off them keeping rare equips, rare. Yeah okay I would say fair enough, but then struggling for those should be fine and an addition to the gameplay? Of course that is the case, people like being challenged to do stuff. Frankly that is the only thing spiral knights has going for itself to keep it's replayability. Why do you think free players(or occasional payers) keep staying for years? Because of this element of being challenged.

But i'm not saying the hall of heroes is bad. I like how the mission system has made the game alot more streamlined to new players, but the hall of heroes just sells too many recipes for my taste. All i'm suggesting is to reduce it down a little. I really hope 3 rings is reading this because things like this upset me a little bit and prevent me from playing the game. Not even consiously, it's just a bad feeling I get and then I decide to just quit before I set out the "ready room"(or whatever its called).

I have been very loyal till now, but I don't know man. The direction starts to become alot less apealing. Kind of dissapointed at 3 rings because I considered them to really know what they're doing

The challange is still there, but there's is a shorcut for whenever you get tired of it.
No one forces you to use HoH....

A challenge you impose on yourself

is, for most people, not as satisfying. It's at odds with the impulse to gain as much of an advantage as possible, which is (I'd argue) the other dominant gamer drive.

An (extreme) analogy: if you impose enough rules on yourself, you can make any game as hard as Demon/Dark Souls. Yet gamers who like a challenge prefer DSouls to games that are less naturally challenging. Why? Because you're pitting your full abilities against the obstacles of the game, rather than making things difficult for yourself by holding back.

Naturally the "difficulty" of diving for recipes is very limited in comparison, but the same reasoning applies.

Derpules you are not making

@Juances

But how is the challenge still there when you are actually... not being challenged anymore?

No prob.

I guess I could've been clearer. :P

Personally, I'd prefer the HoH to be stripped down *slightly* on a different ground: that having so much there turns what was fun into a routine. It was enjoyable getting to the terminal and seeing that Basil has that thing you've been looking for. Now that's been replaced by just another dull shopping trip.

What the CORE!?

I need to do that as a secornd, trolling bomber loadout once I get my main.

Also, not everything is in HoH.

Sealed Sword lines

SL armours

Snarby rewards

Antigua lines

Quicksilver line

Ancient Plate

FoV

Sullivan recipies

The trinkets

Static capacitor line

Mask of Seerus line

The OCH weps

Blackened Crest line

Gravition.

I can't remember more. So, Basil is not obselite.

Oh yeah,

There is no 'basic' set.

Mad Bomber as a usual, 'basic' set? Ironmight as a basic shield? Taking AoA and RSS as a basic wep loadout? Bombastic? Swiftstrike? Chaos?

Depends. There is no basic set. Specialsation is the second key to the game along with teamwork. So I like the HoH. Most of the things I need are there and Basil has the not included recipies.
