I currently own gunner gear and a swiftstrike buckler (gunner alt). The ASI is great and I don't want to part with it. I plan on getting a calibur as a sidearm. Any suggestions on what to do? I don't know if I should get a shadow wep because I figure slimes should be easy with a levi...
Current gear:

Magnus
Voltech 2*
Blaster 2*
Dont get normal damage gun.
Get a shadow gun like sentenza or umbra driver. If you like the alchemer line think about getting umbra.
Calibur is a good sidearm
If you/your alt wishes to gun as main weapons, get one of each damage type. Your secondary weapon should be a sword, either a normal damage sword or piercing. Gunners have the most trouble with fast moving enemies such as devilites and greavers, and a piercing sword takes care of them safer than a magnus or blitz.
There is nothing more safe than a magnus against devilites or single greavers ... also the Blitz Needle melt them all away immediately. I'm gunslinger for my whole game time. I never ever use a sword - i think they are useless with a full gunslinger build (damage and speed ++++)
You just have to get an Elementary, a Shadow and a Piercing Gun. Ele all are about the same with damage, Alchemer are pretty common and ok. Get fire, shock or neutral. Shadow an Alchemer is all you need. And Piercing gun, Magnus is easy to handle and ok.
These are the cheap and pretty ok items :) If you are more expiried test others :P Allways a question of the crowns eh? :D

Yes, the magnus line is the best GUN for fiends, but a pierce sword still helps a ton, especially when there's a whole crowd of them.
You'll also want to get used to not having the swiftstrike, cause in T3 it would be nice to have a shield that doesn't break in one hit, leaving you unable to shield bump. Don't worry as Nameless and Justifier sets will boost your AS by a lot.
Agains a huge mass of them the Blitz Needle works very well too. You may get hit once if you don't care but in that time you need to take a mass down with Callahan you will be hit at least once too :P Blitz is just a superior Weapon at T3. Just sux against T2 wolvers :P

what do you mean? the part of "master gunslinger" ? :P Well I have to say I became kinda old iron since i had a break of about 2 months and never went to the shadow lair for example :P However "master" gunslinger is just a common tag for the gunslinger that know much about their work and I just want to help here :) I have nearly every gun and tested and used them all a long time, i know how they work, i know wich locks, i know the range and i know praxis than just theory :P However if you mean challenge against you ? PvP ? Never did it back these days when the lag was so heavy PvP was impossible for gunner :D Or what do you mean? :3
i am a swordie but i know guns are useful. The alchemer ia useful if you don't realy want a lone 2 shots a clip the rebounding hits make its easier to hit
@Abathur I was mostly referring to running clockworks together to see your style and/or share knowledge.
If you have decent CTR and are smart enough to not stand directly in front of an alpha, Blitz is very nice against all tiers of wolvers. You can kill about 2-3+ in a charge and hit a lot more. The thing with Blitz (autoguns in general, really) is that you really only want to use the charge. The normal attack doesn't do nearly the same amount of damage per shot, shoots less shots in a combo, and takes longer to fire off a clip than one charge. With fiends, you don't want to use blitz in those big, open arena rooms, you may want just be safe with a cautious Callahan. Way too many projectiles coming from too many directions make you a sitting duck while you're immobile. But if you can line up a few in a corner and don't mind taking a hit, by all means, fire away. You can use it to quickly wipe out pit bosses and yesmen, those buggers can take a lot of hits.
I find a gun of each type is the best for clockworks. You'll want to do as much damage as possible per bulelt.
I've played with sentenza, biohazard, and umbra. Umbra still wins in my book. They're all pretty good though.
Yeah, I always seem to come back umbra in the clockworks, even with gremlins. It 3HKOs gremlins and kills menders before they raise their shields in lower T3. Per shot it has the highest dmg, and with a bit of skill you can hit a single mob twice with one shot. And its essential in my secret speed running trick :P
I heard Umbra works well for most situations, while bio and sentenza are more situational. Blaster is more of a swordie's gun imo, for the range utility.

@Demonic, we don't use magnus on giant packs of devilites only single devilites.
We use hail driver on packs of devilites, or Polaris. Piercing guns are more for single devilites / thin groups because of their immobility.
@Abathur, you should probably mention Sentenza's usefulness against gremlins due to bullet mechanics / better single target damage... saying Umbra is the best isn't true, as you need to have almost every gun for every situation. Umbra is better for menders (bursting before they shield) and packs of slimes. Sentenza is pathetic against menders in comparison to umbra.
I also want you to test out your Polaris and Hail Driver on devilite packs, it surprises me you haven't commented on either of those for devilites.
@Nubskills, The main issue I have found with Umbra is taking down gremlin mortars. sentenza has screwy bullet radii, and can damage a mortar even when shot at the shielded area.
Otherwise, if nobody is very picky, an Umbra and Sentenza are both fine anywhere... it's just up to preference as I see it. Depending on the situation, you may want one or the other, so you should still be getting both as a gunner.

Yeah, it does. Noticed it the first time I did OCH. Just don't go about flailing it around directly in the shield since its not very consistant. Try to aim for the ends of the shield, then you can graze him more reliably. Don't know about blackhawk, though, because the range is bugged.
Duke, you might find my old and dusty Blackhawk test thread with pics and such, it is indeed a messed up range.
You can bump it if the bug is really annoying you, maybe a dev will see the thread.
I have seen that thread, that's how I learned how bad it was. Oh, and that's not my umbra speed running tactic. Nothing specific to umbra, that's just the first gun I did it with and the one I tend to have with me, nor do you have to spam the charge.
Ends of the shield? Kkk will do. Blackhawk range is kinda getting trolly now, i'll leave it to collect dust after i finish heating it.

Well, not just any gun, alchemers. I think I've given away enough hints, I like my unique feats being, well, unique.
For greavers I kinda just use a BTB.... Only time I have ever used a sword in a gunner loadout.
I if you have all 4 slots open, I suggest getting polaris, biohazard, blitz needle, and probably a slow sword. If you want to go all out gunner, I suggest throwing the swift strike buckler away, and getting gunslinger instead.
Uhhhh why biohazard? It's mainly a preference choice between bio and something else because the bullets can be a real pain to use for some people.
The blitz is a lot less safe than a Callahan but hits harder, so that is also a preference if you are talking every day clockworks monsters.
Polaris is not good to have as an elemental DPS gun. It is stilly to spam it at everything, especially in parties. You'll get yelled at. I suggest an alchemer instead, or an AP if you prefer those. However, Polaris shines on devilites, gun puppies, and groups of monsters where you need to utilize the knockback for survivability. It's more of a specialized gun, but I always in ALL of my loadouts carry it around with another elemental DPS gun.
Why biohazard? because it's awsome lol
Sentenza and Umbra Driver are much better than Valiance.
