First, a thank you to everyone who have contributed data! We couldn't have this without you.

Here it is! Version 3 of the Spiral Knights CE Market Price watch. The chart has been upgraded once again!
The goal is to record and keep track of the CE market price and graph it out for fun.

Update! It now lives on this webpage:

You can help and submit the current CE prices with the form. The graph is only updated with help from you guys.

If you guys have any questions, feel free to post them bellow or help out by imputing in the current values for when you are playing.

For those who really want to help moderate and or contribute, send me an in game message about the topic and a Google docs email (I promise I will not sell the info) so I can add you into the contributors portion of the sharing options.

maybe you can add major

maybe you can add major events to it so you can see what event caused what in/decrease in prices (so we can finaly stop blaming the wrong things, or determine when a in/decrease is comming)

events like promo's, major updates (like the recent mission and DLC) etc.

This price watch makes me think that there will be people who collect data to determine the best time to buy ce (it possibly rises/falls in the night/the day) and make profit out of that.

Added Major Events

I've gone ahead and added the major events though as with this whole thing is open to how people interpret and put in the information.

What I think in my head, the CE market is sort of like a very simplified stock exchange already. People have money (crowns) in which they need to buy something (CE) so each person puts up a price they are offering to pay for CE. As more people offer to pay more crowns, the whole market goes up.
Supply and Demand in economics.

There may have been people who are already collecting data and taking into account the different releases (missions) and promos (crown sinks) to see the best price but I wanted to not only have everyone help collect the data but to make the results available as well.

Market Prices

I get my current prices by taking the top offer that makes sense in the "Offers to Buy" list (left). Most of the time, when placing a bid on top of that list, it gets bought unless it rapidly changes. Either that or we could change it all up and use the Last Purchase Price which is also on the Market tab in the Energy Depot.

I haven't even used the second tab in a while since I don't need my energy instantly.

Market dip?

I set around 15-20 buy offers at 6,500 CR yesterday, but they were still standing when I logged on this morning. If the price really did drop down to 6k, they should have been cleared out... I assume someone submitted false data?

I could only try. It hasn't been too bad as there hasn't been too many people really using this and we are talking about the forum community here.
I threw something quick together and wanted to try it out. I'm going to see how things turn out and take out any obvious data points that are off. We are looking for general trends overall rather than specific ups and downs though enough spam could in theory destroy it either way.

On another note, we passed our first milestone of one day and we have seen the prices raise form 6.9 to 7.3. To bad I didn't start earlier.

More Data = Better Graph

We are now 6 days and counting. The graph looks a bit better because there is a bit more data over the longer time frame. And WOW! This is why I created this as we see it go up and up but then drop back down.

We have now passed 2 weeks of data. Thanks everyone so far.

It is funny as a small part of the community was in an uproar about raising CE prices but look at what we have now. I think we are bellow when I started the graph.

well, to be fair, CE was spiraling up out of control. OOO released new wings package to bring it back down...but WAIT.....this dropped it by 100-200 crowns then it went right back up. Seeing as their most recent effort to bring CE down failed miserably, OOO patches an economic rebalance and institutes a NEW CE package. Then, and only then, have we seen the reduction in CE prices.

Its the natural progression OOO wants. CE prices raise and raise until they place a CE package promo, then it drops back down. Then the promo ends and ce trends back up. rinse repeat. But in the broken economy, not even the valk wings package was denting the market, and so OOO finally took action and patched in an economy fix.

With all the people exploiting King of Ashes, how could it have not? Only reason it's better now is because OOO intervened (2 CE promos + KoA payout reduction by half).

It's hard telling what the economy would have done had OOO not directly stepped in with an accessory promo, fixed the FSC missions, and then threw in a pretty large energy sale. I'd say of those actions the fix to the missions and the energy sale have done the most in causing the energy price to go where it has in the past several days, because even with the valk promo it was already right back up to 7k cr per 100 ce before the last patch.

i wasn't raging, i was waiting patiently for it to come back down.

but in fairness, people were raging and telling OOO it was broke. OOO was ignoring them, ppshhhh all is fine. Then they did their standard move and did a super CE promo (introducing new wings.....again....i digress), and it did nothing to curb the raising CE prices. Than they said oh [badword] and fixed it. it being the thing that the community was saying was broken for the last half month or more.

So of course people were complaining, while making a massive sweep of fixing things that were not broken, OOO broke something that was fixed. Then they ignored everyone telling them it was broken. Then they tried to "work-around" with CE promos to no avail. Then they came in and belatedly fixed what the broke when they broke what was fixed.

I could give you the data from the last 7 days, the previous data I recollected by my own in a Excel graph may not be correct (I could have skipped days). Maybe I can give you the last 8th day too, depending if that day (12th of September) correspond to the day the prices where at 9K
