I am half way to getting the sealed sword from Brinks. I am planning to upgrade it to the next level but I don't know if I should get Avenger or Faust first.

What do you intend to do with it?
They are totally different swords. Do you need a shadow sword or an ele sword more? It is really that simple.
If I were to guess, I'd say you probably need an ele sword more, because you probably already have a Nightblade for farming JK. Yes?

Nightblade's like the first shadow sword available in terms of stars. And if you farm JK, you probably have it. -_-
Well while avenger works better I pose this question: Do you intend on getting both or just one?
If you intend on getting both, get faust first and farm more JK and get the Avenger. Now the next question is: Do you prefer heavy or fast swords?
If you prefer heavy, get faust, otherwise stick with nightblade. Nightblade is fast and has a spammable charge, Faust has wide swings and good knockback but requires some timing to combo otherwise shield cancel. If you prefer fast swords I'd suggest elemental brandishes, which have a spammable charge AND inflicts statuses. Avenger's charge is powerful and has range and powerful knockback and is more useful for crowd control at 5*.

Get the Avenger you won't regret it. The charge for DA is massive overkill compared with GF's charge and gives wider range as well. Not to mention DA helps alot in FSC :)

actually none of them
craft a faster elemental sword. combuster or glacius (voltedge is probly the best, but uses krogmo coins to get recipes).
also, craft a piercing sword too. either barbarous (from snarbolax, harder to get recipes, the coolest one) or flousirh (pretty much same sword, but you can get recipes from hall of heroes which makes it cheaper). you can also try the Furious Flamberge, which has a bit lower dmg than final flourish but has fire status on it.

If you need an elemental damage sword then go for avenger(I prefer it over elemental brandishes.Preference!).

as far as i can see avenger, grand faust, glacius, combuster and voltedge all have about same damage, none of them is terribly higher. if one is better, its by a little difference.
also, as hes between an elemental and a shadow, but alredy has a shadow (future acheron), i recomend combuster.

Get the Avenger. Faust's curse ability lies in the second strike (which will need to be shield cancelled some of the time for safety) and the charge (which needs good curse resistance on TWO pieces of kit, or an extra weapon slot in order to not be shielding after self-cursing). Avenger doesn't have those drawbacks, and since you've farmed JK for the Sealed in the first place you almost certainly have a decent shadow weapon... not to mention the flying projectiles which make for good crowd control.
This is only if you enjoy using heavy swords, though. I'm assuming you want one.

I prefer GF over acheron because I like the knock back(I am a slow sword user). Maybe,it's the same case with the OP.....you never know.
