I was thinking of creating a guild that help new members. I do come a cross many newbies asking many questions and are shy to go up and ask an old timer. Well, if we show we are here to help with the guild title, they may not be to shy anymore.

The guild title would be something kind and to advertise to new members that we want to answer any questions they may have (Title may possibly be: "Have a Question? Ask Me.", or something of this sort.) I personally, enjoy helping out many new members and I always do.
Now, I had not made the guild yet, but I am showing my idea for it to see if anyone would want to join in and help create a (more) better community at SK!

So if you like to-
Answer questions newbies may ask join!
Help get newbies started out with maybe some armor or weapons join!
Help out newbies in whatever they need to get them going (ex. running a dungeon with them, teaching them how to play better) join!

So, anybody like the idea of this guild?

I think this idea is such a great idea. With that being said, you will need to make sure you have others in the guild to help you help others. Also, maybe get in touch with other guilds and maybe when people have gotten the hang of the game and are looking for a more serious guild or something of the sort you can help them get in touch with those guilds. It's a fantastic idea.

I'm a guild master in the guild I'm in, but i am more than willing to help if you ever need help or have questions yourself. :)

Yes, that is also another

Yes, that is also another goal for newbies. Everyone will want to be apart of something, its a good feeling. I do own another guild, and I would gladly allow anyone, but it is a guild made for users who go onto a certain forum, sadly. So I will have to get in touch with many guilds (If you own a guild and want to be part of the help, please post what guild you own) also, newbies could go onto forums and look for open serious guilds or just fun guilds.
Anyway, I am considering creating the guild soon later today. I just need at least 15+ people to join at start; we need many people to help out at start.

-To join, please tell me about yourself and list what you know about SK, and how you may be able to help. This is a serious guild for helping, we are going to be laid back and helpful. I don't want any flamers, trolls, or anything bad influential you find on the Internet. I would also like if you were a 2+ week longer player of SK, so you know what goes on in-game, and you could share your experiences.

Once you are in the guild and are part of the help, you don't always need to be helping. But if you do see a newbie confused with something, help them out. If you see newbies, ask them if they need help. If a newbie comes up and asks you a question, answer it.

-Rules of the guild will be:
1. Do not be rude to newbies, do not call them "noobs" or flame them. If you do this, you will be kicked from the guild immediately.
2. Be polite, this pretty wraps up rule 1.
3. If you do not know a question a newbie asks, DO NOT ANSWER as you may give the wrong information. Tell them simply to go to the wiki of Spiral Knights and find it themselves, or find it yourself and answer.
4. Do not flame with other guild members, we are a friendly guild and we must be friendly to one another.
5. If a newbie starts flaming you, please do not flame back and just report them. Also ignore if they continue. If you flame back, you will be kicked from the guild immediately. (Rule 1)
6. If you see a newbie telling wrong information to another user, correct them so they don't spread wrong info around and nobody gets confused or mixed up.
7. Another way to be helpful, if you see a newbie or anybody for that matter flaming, report them immediately.
8. If a newby wants to join a guild, suggest one or tell them to look at the forum for one!

TL;DR
If you would like to join, please read the rules and sign up below. Also read how to join.

I really like this idea! I'm

I really like this idea! I'm very much a newbie myself, but I think I understand enough of the basic stuff to help out with that. Plus, I'm learning a lot as a I play. Besides, don't you think having somebody who just went through the training stages might understand a problem somebody is having better than a well-seasoned veteran?

I'm always willing to lend a hand in any way. My character's name is Hyperbob.

I think this is a great idea.

I think this is a great idea. I have been playing since a few weeks before release, and feel like helping new players has so far been more fun/rewarding than beating bosses or trying to get the best gear.

I do want to ask, have you settled on the guild title yet? The tag "Have a Question? Ask Me" is very clear, but is lacking some panache... I'm also not sure you can stick a question mark into a guild name. What about "How Can I Help"?

I still have never settled

I still have never settled down for a title name for the guild. But seeing as newbies do go around and see many silly guild titles, this is going to be a bit difficult. I like your idea, but it may not work..
We need something to show new players we want to help. Maybe something like, "I'll help you if you have a question", but I am not sure how long guild names can be.

Any ideas?

A Guild for Newbies

I am currently constructing a guild with a major goal of helping new users called Pure Sunrise.
It was only started yesterday and we only have about 3 officers running around doing their best to recruit people, but we don't seem to have any newbies to help out.
I suppose we can only wait until we have enough members to have an impact on the community to be noticed. >.<

Never mind!

I gave up on leading a Guild. I think its too much work...
However, if the Newbie-Helping guild forms I think I should be able to join it at some point. :)

I think the problem is that

I think the problem is that your guilds' name is not showing newbies you want to help them out. But I am glad you did make a guild with the same purpose. we could work together once I do get more people to join in my guild, and we could all help out.

I'm not sure a descriptive

I'm not sure a descriptive name is essential, actually, especially when guild names are hard to see -- by default (which is what new players will be playing by most likely) names and guilds only show up when you stand near someone.

I think picking a short, sensible name and relying on in-game advertisement might be more fruitful. For example, having members use a macro once in a while that contains their own customized version of:

/shout New to Spiral Knights? Have a question about the game? (insert guild name) are/is here to assist! /tell us how we can help.

Being pro-active would give the guild more visibility as a resource for new players. Other things that would help:

  • Offering a piece of 1star equipment to new players after assisting them.
  • Inviting new players to a Tier 1 run.
  • Stationing an alternate character in Pod Town and using the above /shout macro, to help newbies where they are most prolific.
  • Stationing an alt. in Pod Town/Rescue Camp, sending them some fancy gear to make them stand out, using the above /shout macro, running Abandoned Depot/Haven run with newbies. This also gets the new players more excited about the game if your equipment is fancy enough.

Good idea, Thrull. I agree to my fullest extent, that is what we shall do.
Now we do need a name for the guild, ideas? I sadly don't have any; I was never good with coming up with titles for things..

The guild hasn't been made

The guild hasn't been made yet, and I don't think I'll be able to.
The reason is, I am to busy right now with real life and in game. I am concerned with many guilds and it is hard to keep up. So I am passing this guild idea to whoever may want to take the responsibility of it. I will still, be helping out newbies by shouting out to them and giving a helping hand.
I also encourage whoever wants to make this guild go ahead and do it! The more the better.
I'm sorry for not going with the idea myself, so use whatever you want from this.

Though this guild concept

Though this guild concept does already exist if newbies are still looking for a guild that specializes in helping them out.

The Lookouts is always accepting new members, no matter how newbish.
