Today while hanging around the AH, there was a knight dressed fully in Valkyrie armor with divine accessories attached to every slot. After a few compliments from some other knights, said knight started to brag and mentioned that "a GM gave it to [him]". Are GMs supposed to give stuff like that to players? Or is that knight just being a show-off? If GMs are allowed to give stuff away, can I has?

GMs do NOT give stuff away. Pretty sure they can get fired if they do.

It's likely to be the latter,

It's likely to be the latter, people do that to rile others up all the time.

And please don't beg, around here we have to earn everything.

As for GMs doing things like that, they tend to only do such things out of compensation (there are youtube videos here and there), though I doubt any of them would give equipment away, I noticed that in one instance a squad of knights were doing Vanaduke and they had encountered issues trying to get their friends back in with them, so the GM helped kill the boss.

TL;DR

No. Go earn it.

actually, a GM will give you

actually, a GM will give you free revives and some pills on occasion.

Granted, the time I saw a GM it was because the teammate I was with claimed a switch was missing when all it was was him looking in the wrong location :-D

If GM = Guild Master, then

If GM = Guild Master, then the in-game player was probably trying to use it deceptively. I've always known GM = Game Master.

Crap, seems I've been beat to it. At any rate, this really shows how stupid OOO were in naming the lead position in guilds. Brilliant idea making it use the same acronym that your in-game staff does, guys. That won't be confused ever. Maybe they'll implement an NPC called OOO next. :p
