Hypothetically, this would be mine:

Shadowsun Set

Swiftstrike Buckler

Nova Driver/Argent Peacemaker (depends on what weapon I feel like using in the particular situation)
Sentenza/Umbra Driver (for gremlins and slimes respectively)
Blitz Needle
Leviathan Blade

Elite Quick Draw Module
Elite Handgun Focus Module

Gun bonuses: DMG very high, CTR very high, ASI ultra

Where do you get the VH damage from?

2 shadowsun pieces only translate to Medium damage bonus, unless you counting UVs on your weapons.

My ideal general purpose gunner set would be:

Perfect Seerus Mask/Nameless (if you don't have DLC)
Nameless Poncho
Crest of Almire/Dread Skelly shield(I think that's the 5 star version, correct me if I'm wrong)

Sentenza
Polaris
Blitz Needle
Final Flourish/BTB

2 Elite Trueshot modules

Bonuses with mask: VH CTR on level 10 guns, VH damage, High speed
Without mask: Med CTR on level 10 guns, VH damage, VH speed

The toothpicks are for those pesky fiends and beasts if you so choose.

Shadowsun getting a buff in

Shadowsun getting a buff in the future, it would be good to craft it early before the rest of the community finds out about the news and hike up shadowsun mats.

Full nameless/justifier and 2 trueshots gives vh in asi and damage.

Seerus, nameless/justifier and 2 trueshots give vh ctr, high asi, and vh damage.

Full shadowsun with 2 trueshots currently give max damage.

Trollingyou's loadout uses polaris as elemental damage. Not the best, since alchemers and ap do a better job at dps'ing on everything but turrets. It also uses blitz, which experienced gunslingers do use against fiends. However, it is not the safest weapon against them.

With a piercing sidearm, you can cover greavers and fiends easily. If that isn't your fancy, a magnus is the safer of the 2 piercing guns. You can always turn on autoaim and shoot your ap at them for interrupts

polaris or hail? can never choose!

Perfect Seerus Mask (for fsc, CoF)
Nameless Poncho (for fsc, deadshot = max undead dmg)
Swiftstrike Buckler (yes, be pro)
2x elite trueshot

max asi, vh gun ctr, vh gun dmg

Polaris
Hail Driver
Sentenza
BTB (used to be levi blade for charge until sentenza was pure shadow)

For max gun damage, the suggestion is to switch around one armour with med dmg, like deadshot mantle when doing fsc for example. And because that would replace your med asi armour, you can have med asi on your guns which you won't be switching around.

My general purpose gunner

My general purpose gunner loadout is:
Perfect Seerus
Nameless Poncho
Grey Owlite Shield (or really any appropriate shield for the theme)

Argent Peacemaker
Callahan
Umbra/Sentenza
Blitz Needle (Iron Slug or Valiance if I feel hipster)

That's a tough one, as a

That's a tough one, as a gunner you should really shoot for more than just a general purpose loadout, but I will try to make one that works everywhere:

1. One piece of Shadowsun, one piece of Nameless following the buff.
2. 2 gun damage bonus trinkets.

3. Grey Owlite

4. Argent Peacemaker
5. Sentenza
6. Callahan if you solo, Blitz if you are usually in groups.
7. Polaris

How this works, is that your armor is offering you defense that is viable for the current end game content. The bonuses are maximum damage to everything + a med ASI, which can allow some wiggling room for your gun ASI UVs so should you chose to get any. (This is assuming the damage bonus on Shadowsun becomes medium instead of low and shadow defense instead of piercing defense).

Your guns are where it's hard to pick. You really need to have a wide variety of guns as a gunner for every situation, but the four that I chose should work well "everywhere". I did not include alchemers because the AP / Sent are a little bit more all-purpose. When it comes down to it and you are not allowed to choose both antiguas and alchemers, single target damage is more important.

Polaris mainly for devilites, also for gun puppies and possible survivability with knockback.

Some things are just easy for you to add to the general loadout, like a Swiftstrike to use in graveyards / wolver dens / other simple easy-to-dodge levels.

I like my loadout

-Justifier hat(or perfect mask of seerus if u bought DLC or willing to pay for it from AH)
-Nameless poncho
-Nova Driver
-Umbra Driver
-Blitz needle or Callahan if u solo.
-(if you MUST have one) polaris or supernova.

Btw, dont get AP or Sentenza. I've had both and i find that i kill A LOT faster with my umbra and nova. Though some people might say get a polaris for knock-back and to take down turrets don't. Polaris is a swordsmen's gun. Just charge a nova, aim a little to the left and shoot. multiple bullets will hit and will instantly kill or get it down to super low health.

I might have to second you on

I might have to second you on that AP / Sent thing... sadly... alchemers are just so much better than them T.T

You can click on the Nova vs. AP single target damage thread I did maths in.

Perfect Mask of

Perfect Mask of Seerus
Shadowsun Slicker (once they buff it to Medium DMG bonus)
Swiftstrike Buckler/shadow shield for fiend stratums
2x Elite Trueshot Module

Nova Driver
Umbra Driver
Final Flourish
Supernova

Max damage, very high CTR/ASI (low ASI when using a shadow shield)

Nova/Umbra for charge spam, Final Flourish for Fiends and Beasts, Supernova for choke spam and reliable knockback (you will do around 220 damage on d28 with maxed damage with Supernova, I do 206 with just very high damage). Generally its best to suck up your pride and get that Flourish sword instead of a piercing gun

Or use a blitz needle,

Or use a blitz needle, because one of our jobs as a gunner is to kill Battlepods / Vanaduke / Trojans....

Remember that it's all about playstyle and preferences and skill and whatnot, at the end of the day it's skill that matters, and trust me it doesn't take much skill to pop wolvers with a Callahan and Devilites with a Polaris or Hail Driver.

As for mine...

Perfect Mask of Seerus for DLC-ers, otherwise Nameless Hat.
Shadowsun Slicker or Justifier Jacket
Wise Owlite Shield or Crest of Almire - for all purpose blocking.
2x Elite Trueshot Module
I try not to use a build that's too offensive, as well as covering at least two damage types, depending on the stratum theme.

As for the weapons, I recommend at least one crowd control weapon and one dps weapon. Naturally, you will want one weapon covering each damage type. If you're not too picky about using guns only, a final flourish will do fine as a sidearm.
Polaris - Crowd Control + Status
Umbra Driver - DPS
Final Flourish - Just In Case.

Blitz Needle - Vana, mostly.
AP/Sentenza - Only if I feel bored of using my Polaris/Umbra.
Valiance - For trolling.

@Kentard, I suggest out of

@Kentard, I suggest out of your guns the AP, Umbra, FF, and Polaris because you are a fan of the piercing swords instead of piercing guns which many are and have viable reasons for it.

Make sure to not just spam Polaris at everything if you are in a group. If you are solo you can just do your thing, you might prefer the Polaris. But in a group, you'll want to carry both an AP and a Polaris.

Personally, I find spamming a Polaris at something like an every day clockworks monster just silly. I always carry a Polaris in every one of my loadouts, only gun that I do that, but I also have another elemental gun that is more DPS oriented rather than Utility / devilite / gun puppy oriented.

Demonic is correct in noticing something a bit off about that Polaris without an elemental friend :3

Pointing something out

If you don't have the DLC the masks are on the Auction House, but they are kinda pricey. The *3 version I saw currently has 55k bidding price and 110k buyout. I wouldnt hold your breath on buying a cheap perfect mask but if you just want the bonuses that is an option
