Learn how to shield cancel after the first flourish swing.
You can only go so far spamming full flourish combos.
But in actuality, there's not much you can learn by reading text.
I'd say the best you can do for yourself is practice a lot.
Observe what people do to kill you. Steal their techniques. Play a lot.
I could have a slim chance of beating you!?

This is why I have that firefox plug in, shows you the title of the video rather than the link.
Lockdown is pay to win on all three tiers.
Unless we get some serious rebalancing, 'pro' or 'competitive' lockdown is a joke.
What gear do you use, what shield class you prefer, how many connection bars do you get, and computer specs. Doing well in LD does not necessarily mean you need to have ASI's or CTR's. Helping your team cap, deathmark as recon, heal and defend as guard is better than hogging damages and not capping as striker.
Believe me when these unfortunate things happen:

What... No skill? Really? REALLY? Good gear only gets you so far. Next time you see someone get over 12k damage, inspect them at the end of the match. You would be surprised how few of them have good UVs on their gear. I even have a friend who wears Heavenly Iron helm in LD (With a WEAKNESS to shock), and he spent a few glorious days in the top 10 LD leaderboard.
For the people that say t3 LD takes no skill, I challenge you to go Recon or Guardian.
As I've said, doing well in LD does not equal high damages, and UV's. I would rather have someone who caps than aim for damage only. The right kind of gear does elevate yours and the team's performance, no denying that. Being in the top 10 leaderboards does not really say much about one's "skill", only how much playtime you put in really.
Some fast tips as i go to go. :P
1. Stop spamming your combo. Shield canceling is good and it leaves you less open to attacks and makes it harder for opponents to hit you.
2. Watch other good players and copy what they are doing you don't have to reinvent the wheel.
3. Think about the game. I don't mean in your free time, but say you just died and waiting to re-spawn think about how you just died and what you could have done differently. And try to act on that!
4. Your striker boost is a resource and it is basically your lifeline. If your out your way more likely to die as you can't avoid attacks as easily and you can't cancel yours which leaves you more open. It's nice to get to a fight fast though it is better to get there a bit later and actually be able to survive.
5. Practice. Nothing beats practice, but mindlessly spamming games without trying to improve if you want to get better won't get you anywhere.
I CAN beat 3*, just not 4 - 5* a lot, but im starting to get better at it now =)

i remember a topic like this
1. Don't use medium-speed weapons to start a combo
2. Your attacks can be used to cancel the attacks of another player, so keep that in mind.
3. Strikers are only good in open areas. If you close off a portion of the area by "cornering up" you have a greater chance to counter.

Striker unless you're very good I recommend having Heart Trinkets. ASI on your weapons helps a lot also... the higher the better.
Recon can get away with no Heart Trinkets if you play well. General methods are either the Death Mark and go for the kill, sneak attack (no Death Mark or Recon Mark before you hit them), or partner up with a Guardian and work together. Jumping Recon build works fantastic also if you set the build up right. And DON'T BE PREDICTABLE!!! A predictable Recon is a dead Recon.
Guardian... find somebody else for advice on that one, I can do more damage in 3* as Recon then I can as a 5* Guardian.

I've won all my tier 3 lockdown matches so far, even the one where I just got to tier 3, messed around with my equipped stuff and accidentally started lockdown with proto armour, proto helm, ascended calibur, kilowat pulsar, and a guardian shield.
I find tier 1 and tier 2 are mainly about just trying to rush and spam on the enemy, but tier 3 is more of how you play it then just going all out spamming the attack button.
Tips:
1. Doing little damage at a time and managing to get away from an enemy alive is much better then doing lots of damage to an enemy to end up dying. A guardian will heal them soon enough.
2. Try and pick a class that will help you do damage, and not one that will hinder you. For example, you shouldn't really go striker if you're a bomber unless you think you can handle the Charge Time Increase: Very high, while going recon would give you a good advantage.
3. Use your shield. You may just go one class to get the bonuses, but the shield is the most important thing you have in lockdown. The shield can make all the difference between dying and getting another control point. Learn what the shields do.
4. Use the same things you use in the clockworks. Shield cancelling as a guardian or recon still works as effectively in lockdown as it does in the clockworks.
5. Try and find the weaknesses of your opposition. If you see someone wearing skelly, and it's not costume, try and set them on fire.
6. Run away if you're about to die. Unless this is near the end of the game and the score is like 450-455, it's better to stay alive, heal, regroup and charge with more people.
Using these tricks, I found myself doing more damage then before.
Some tips:
- Don't play T3 Lockdown
- Don't play T2 Lockdown
- Don't play T1 Lockdown
There's no such thing as "Pro" in T3 Lockdown. Get Skolver & Final Flourish. Spam Punch for ASI:Very High & Max Shock Resist. The End.
