Has anyone else noticed that certain zombies don't flinch from your heavy atks (Eg. 2nd swing of DA)?

It's been happening recently (I think it came with the zombie lunge patch) but it's really annoying you're relying on the flinch so you can safely use your 2nd swing and WHAM you're dead.

I think it's a glitch?

---

Also, my chat bar locks up sometimes when I use the "back"(up arrow) function

ANDDD one more thing, the zombie lunge is so [special]. Hits twice ANDDdd I swear it hits well before the animation gets to you.

Not quite so simple

I've noticed that zombies always flinch if hit with /both/ swings of the DA hit. I'm not sure if them not flinching on 2nd hit alone is a glitch or intended. I have noticed that guns don't seem to give them knockdown though. -_-

I actually welcome the zombie jump buff. Yeah, it's annoying and more difficult, but without it zombies were seriously a punchline. If you time it right you can actually shield bounce them without the hit happening.

certain zombies don't flinch

certain zombies don't flinch no matter what I do to them, no matter how much I man handle them :(

I'm still hating on that lunge atk, it's so ridiculous. I guess they don't nom anymore which was quite bad too.

It's worse when you use the

It's worse when you use the rocket hammer. If the enemy does not flinch from your full combo you will get hit and getting the hammer to hit while dashing is like flipping a coin

Mhm...mhm...and mhm.

From both youtube vids and personal experience, I think it appears that zombies are extremely susceptible to flinching while setting up for breath attacks. C'mon, OOO, at least give us some more monsters with good area denial capabilities...

Zombies flinch when: Last hit

Zombies flinch when:

Last hit of a sword heavy attack.
Not when jumping.
Anytime during fire breath if hit.

At leastthat's how it works when i solo with a DA and guns.
And your chat bar/chat log, if im reading this right, gets "locked" when you scroll through chat, and reverts to normal if you hit the button to take it all the way back down.

Meh, I find that the second swing doesn't stop them dead mid-lunge anymore. Took forever to acclimate to that. I was too used to swatting zombies out of the air.

Too bad that ended up being useless since I've abandoned my DA in favor of the rocket hammer.

The flinching seems to be

The flinching seems to be very inconsistent for me, and it's annoying because I can see it happen once then rely on it the next time and it doesn't happen. Might as well just remove flinching completely, lord knows they need another buff.

I don't know guys, I've been

I don't know guys, I've been running FSC all day yesterday solo. Every second hit of the DA seemed to stop them, if it was the normal, non shield-canceled second hit. I tried it out on Depth 26 in the last room to check. I had them "flinch-locked" in the corner with the DA and they couldnt retaliate to a med ASI on it (trololol to them)

Maybe we could get a small clip uploaded and test it out some more? I know for certain they can't be flinched durin the jumping/lunge attack, but any other time seems to work.

K guys, just did a small test

K guys, just did a small test run of FSC and I can confirm that zombies flinch when second hit of DA hits them.

I'll post a video link in a moment.

EDIT:

Heres the link: http://youtu.be/kXJnF4oTR_o

Video pretty much explains it all.

Thx for the video xylka, it

Thx for the video xylka, it makes me think that it might have something to do with the damage you do, I haven't tested it out but I never really noticed this flinching problem until i switched out my dmg for hp trinkets

I used to have max dmg on my DA now I have none since I took out my skolver cap as well for seerus.

@ some of the comments above: this "both swings must hit" thing is something I've never heard of however it seems to stand true for me as well now. I used to be able to interrupt with only my 2nd DA swing regardless (again, max dmg) but now it never happens

its sad how even in a corner I cant flinch-lock sometimes (happens most frequently at last room of d26)

Maybe somebody can test this dmg theory out? (i'm far too lazy)

My experiences

About the only new thing I noticed is that you take damage when zombies lunge on you. Before you wouldn't take damage. I think they made that change some time ago. At first I was surprised, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I really like the change. It makes them a little bit tougher than before.

I also think that their annoying grab/lock attack is gone. That is very much appreciated, as it only confused the core out of me whenever it happened.

Flinching

The way flinching works is based on the damage you do compared to the monsters TOTAL health. when you play in a group their health increases from when you play solo so depending on the amount of damage bonus you get you may or may not flinch them. For example a calahan will not flinch a zombie after depth 24 unless you have a very high (at minimum) damage bonus and are solo. So if you want flinching more get better damage bonus or play solo.

They still nom

Their grab attack is still there, it's just very rare. Thankfully I had my DA out at the time, or it may have ended badly... talk about annoying.

Can't remember

Is the fact that zombie's lunge attack can hit twice a bug or a feature?

Feature, like the hammer

Feature, like the hammer dash.
Whether zombies should flinch can be answered by one question:
Can zombies feel pain? If yes, they should. If no, they should not.
Either way, I'm going to keep keeping my distance and shooting balls of electricity and/or birds at them.

I'm almost positive it's not

I'm almost positive it's not just the weapon, but the damage it inflicts. In a 4 man party, my DA used to not flinch zombies (running Med damage boost). Ever since I landed an undead medium UV on it and used one piece of Snarby (Damage undead: Max) with my BTS, it'll flinch zombies whenever I use a full combo on it even with a full party.
When solo, the second swipe always flinches as far as I can remember. (As Xylka's video shows)

I've got a feeling that it's somehow related to DPS when it comes to flinching since a change in damage affects whether or not you can cause them to flinch, but finding that magic number would be quite a hassle :3

After reading this I'm

After reading this I'm thinking the same as you guys. Because that would mean a Gran Faust would be able to flinch them aswell, which it probably won't.

I could test it with my BTB and Acheron and send out the results, but idk if I wanna make another video :P
