Thing is, the information was always there. Can't really cheat people if they give the information already and the people don't read it.

If mist energy wasnt shared, you could find a loop to create unlimited accounts and get unlimited energy.
It's a safety measure so you dont 'cheat' them.

I think I know the problem here
I think I know what your problem is. I had this when I started. Your SK display is bigger than your screen currently, so only your Crystal Energy is showing, and your chat and Mist energy is hidden beneath your screen. To fix this, go to the main menu (the cog in the top left corner), go to Options, and muck about with the "display screen" sizes until you find something you like. I have 1024 x 600 x 32 60Hz. Hope this helps.

When i started, I made a second character on my account, thinking I could get in more play time with two mist tanks. But as explained above, it doesn't work that way, unless you pay money on one character. At first I raged too. But, then I got over it. I'm free to play, I've never put money in (which means I give lots of crowns to the players that do for their crystal energy!) And I've played long enough to make close to a dozen 5* items. So, calm down, knuckle up, and get to grinding.

Do you have a different account?
Mist is shared between accounts if you haven't paid for CE on any of them.
That might explain why you don't have any mist.
Also, the first mission (leaving the crash site) will take up 5 energy automatically.
