I was thinking, since I'm going for the Divine set, would it be worth keeping my Owlite shield? I was thinking of changing to the jelly series since you get extra stun protection, plus piercing. I have Magic Hood, Cloak and Owlite shield at the moment.

Help?

Owlite's worth having even if you're using the Magic set, but if you're worried about stun, get a plate shield instead. The only thing that deals piercing damage and stuns is a giant lichen colony. Lumbers and Trojans are much more likely to smash through your shield and stun you.

Shield and armour/helm have nothing to do with each other

Why would you need your Owlite any less? If you're on a construct or gremlin strata, or one with lots of gun puppies, you'll want the Owlite, regardless of what you're wearing. Simple as that.

In case you're unaware, your shield doesn't add anything to your personal resistances, or vice versa. Its resistances apply only to *its own* health, i.e. how quickly it breaks when taking damage of those types.

And what do you mean by "keeping"? Were you actually considering vendoring it? The cashback you get is puny. Don't bother.

Vendoring? Never!

I wasn't going to vendor it! I was just going to let it rot in my inventory.
But thanks for the pointers; I'll keep it then.

Would it be wrong to ask about weapons on this thread too? :v

Ask whatever you want, and

Ask whatever you want, and keeping it all in one thread will reduce clutter and allow you to view all the response in one thread.

Like others said, armour and shield defences have to be counted separately. The shield protects itself from breaking when activated. It does not add to armour to reduce damage taken. And when a shield is activated, you suffer a movepseed decrease and the inability to do anything else while shielding.

Divine Set

I agree with the other posters that Grey Owlite Shield is great. (This is why it's one of the most popular shields in the game.) It's great, even if you're wearing Divine Veil and Divine Mantle.

What the other posters have not mentioned is: Wearing Divine Veil and Divine Mantle is not a good idea, in most situations. They have no normal protection, and normal damage is common, even on Tier 3. Especially if this is your first 5-star armor set, get some normal protection in there.

So what do you recommend?

D'oh. I liked the look of the divine set together. So what do you suggest? Magic Hood + Wolver Coat?

yes

"I liked the look of the divine set together."

Yeah, it certainly is shiny. So make it for a costume, if you have the resources.

"So what do you suggest? Magic Hood + Wolver Coat?"

Yes. The 5-star version, Divine Veil with Skolver Coat (or Justifier Jacket, for gunners), is the classic general-purpose armor set. My secondary character uses this set in all situations. On the other hand, my primary character rarely uses this set, because he has specialized sets for every situation. The Skolver Coat gets used in these specialized sets; the Divine Veil doesn't. In a sense, Divine Veil has extremely high short-term value, but not great long-term value.
