Yay, it was fixed.
^_^
Oops. You're right, I probably put this in the wrong forum. :<
But people usually do the rooms for cr anyways.
Theres another glitch, you can save the sprites with water orbs, two times now i've hit a friend carrying a sprite, and it turns them green
The early water orb glitch isn't used to bypass the lvl (come on, no ones THAT dumb), its more often used to clear out the immediate shadow fire that's everywhere in that lvl.
Some friends and I broke that level once by putting a bunch of sprites in the center too quickly. The water orbs didn't pop up, and we didn't have any sprites left. Fortunately, a GM responded to our distress calls and warped us past the fire to the elevator area.
Also don't set the sprites on the very edge of a map you cannot pick the sprite back up when it is still cursed (if I need to upload a scereenshot to show what I mean I can), this just started happening when they fixed the statue glitch. Anyone who uses the glitch to get water fast to bypass the level fast is a moron, there's tons of cr and heat if you do every room.
people might have ele passes and want to get to Vana quickly. Possible (but probably uncommon).
With elevator pass you can speedrun D24 and 25 and then just do 26 and 27 which are much more profitable. Giving more profit per minute.
Without ele pass though, then yes skipping D25 rooms is stupid.
Yeah, it's not game-breaking really, and you're losing out if you just skip the other rooms.
people do it because shadowfire + lag = loud and immense cursing
I really dont see any point in fixing it. It's more of an easter egg than exploit nowdays :P
Getting the water out early has very limited benefit. I mean, skipping D25 isn't really going to help a party of inexperienced players get to the end of FSC, it doesn't make D25 any easier, and it doesn't give extra crowns. It is mostly used by experienced FSC runners to avoid the hassle of having to run and collect six sprites after all the rooms are done (which is kind of a pain). The only real use that affects anything legitimate is if you're a total power player like Strudul up there willing to skip floors to hit max crowns per minute, but very few people are and I don't see any point in stopping them.
In short, please don't fix bugs that make the game more fun.
So, are we going to ban half the community with an elevator pass now? Ok, ok, it is a joke, but it IS an exploit, and it does give more profit in less time... which means more crowns...
If it is an exploit which benefits some players it should be cut down, after all they fixed the "going both ways" exploit at FSC 3rd stage.
Its getting you somthing that you usually work for. The players lose out on 3K or more crowns if they cut right through, so its a balanced payout. If they continue through with the levels, it's just to get rid of that stupid fire that seems to hit you when you're nowhere near it
@Damienfoxy *kthxbai
I got your back ;)
But the terms of service say to never ever abuse bugs. I personally try my best to obey the terms of service.
Unless you all think that this is somehow intentional.. I still think it's a bug.
It isn't a bug. If it was, it would have been fixed LONG ago.
That's the same reason people thought the Pepperbox charge was working as intended.
It wasn't.
Well it's valid untill an admin says otherwise.
I've never seen or done it myself, but its a very useful trick with the amount of fire people have to deal with
What Damien said. And its not that big a deal. It just saves a couple trips of sprite carrying... is it against the rules? Clarification would be nice, otherwise, party on, right?
If theres really a big deal with abuse, what about the trojans pushing slag walkers through the energy wall?
Or when the trojans themselves break through? Or the missile puppy shooting through it?
Solution: Find a guild populated by people who care more about profit per run than exploiting to min/max over numerous runs.
People who use the exploit will be punished if it is deemed to be an exploit. I don't figure you want to be around them if that does become the case.
"Well it's valid untill an admin says otherwise. "
No. This is false. The GM's should not have to come in every time there is a glitch and say "don't exploit it." They have even said something along these lines in the past (I believe after they patched the Divine Avenger charge attack). In this case, it's not really doing any harm (as most parties just do all the rooms anyways), it's more for the convenience of not having to lug all the Sprites around. However, technically it is still bug abuse, and they can give you a ban of some sort for it. Will they? I don't know, but they can if they desire.
If a party does this to skip D25 altogether then it isn't going to help them much(if you can't do D25 then plausibly you wont be able to do the other depths either).Experienced players do it avoid the hassle of running around carrying sprites. So,this "bug" isn't doing any harm i believe.I guess we can let this one pass.Oh well....
It's clearly not something anyone's *actually* going to get banned for. Simmer down, boy scouts.
Most people who I have seen do the glitch is just so they don't have to run around the place, gathering sprites. I, like a lot of people, use sprites as markers, saying which rooms have been done by placing the sprite from each room on the button outside their respective "cages." It helps someone who is either just joining or skimming around for another room to do to get caught up to speed. Instead of running back and forth 8 times to get all the sprites, people just use the glitch and move along.
However, skipping the floor entirely is a bad idea. Next time you get the chance (and are soloing), try clearing all the rooms and getting all the sprites, without killing the zombies that spawn in the middle room. Most people take said zombies for granted, but when you have to deal with them all at once, you realize how many crowns are available. In general the floor pays quite well though with 6 Trojans and probably well over 100 zombies (plus Oilers and Gun Puppies).
Albeit, I am the guy who calls Zombies "Crown Packets" so I might not be seeing what a normal person sees
Wait, what? I've never known about this glitch until now. I heard there's a way to do it, but I never knew exactly how until I read this thread. I'm 100% serious, I did not know how to perform this glitch until you folks told me.
And yes, the water helps a lot. I tend to extinguish all the fires in the main hall as soon as I can so I don't accidentally step on shadow fire when kiting zombies. You can also use the water to help retrieve that sprite in the spike wheel room, but it's usually not worth it (unless you are running in a group.)
Although, when I think about it, if you have an elevator pass then the spike wheel room is not worth your time. I mean that room only has 3 enemies in it (6 if you include the enemies that spawn in the main hall) and it takes forever to complete.
shush ;)
When I'm solo I do the glitch and skip the level.
Yeah im missing some profit, and yeah I dont have the Elevator Pass. But like you said, the later levels are more profitable, and even if I skip this level I still end up with ~7k at the end.
Yeah. Not a big loss.
Anyway, no need to patch something that reduces player profit if they decide to do it.
Don't do the sprite glitch.
I'm doing it now solely to tick people like you off while simultaneously being the party leader. The glitch hurts absolutely no one by doing it; it does not do ANYTHING except grant early access to the treasure boxes and hearts, which 9 times out of 10 have absolutely nothing in them worth much in value. You could argue that it would give people access to the elevator easier, but on the same token, why does that even matter? Everyone has to be on the elevator to begin with to proceed. If you're that deadset on ignoring a glitch, then do the rooms on your own while they watch in boredom from the elevator if that's your main problem Even then, in my experience, everyone does the glitch and then goes to do the rooms anyway because people like money.
Long story short, suck it up. You're whining over nothing because you're a "stickler" for rules, when doing this functions as nothing else than a "hey look what i can do".
Derp double post, thank you college internet.
I hope they never fix this glitch. I do it all the time; not to skip the extra rooms, but so we can actually rescue the sprites.
In all seriousness though, it's an essentially harmless glitch that simply gives people the ability to skip most of D25, and in the process lose out on masses of crowns. The only people whom will actually do it for said purpose and not for amusing reasons like myself are people aiming to speedrun, and really why in the world should you restrict the ways in which people can play the game? Most of the greatest games ever are riddled with glitches and exploits that ultimately make them better by either allowing people to exploit them for entertaining results, or speedruns, or whatever; granted in any game with an economy or competetive aspect you have to be careful about these things, but this particular glitch offers no game breaking consequences; it's fundamentally an extension of just saving the minimum number of sprites and skipping the last two rooms; you progress quicker at the price of heat and crowns which you can do in some form in most levels in the game.
If you want to wage a war on exploits, start dealing with glitches that actually negatively impact the player experience, not the ones that are for all intents and purposes completely harmless.
I do the Easter egg ( =D ) for two reasons.
1) I can do the wheel room with the shortest path every time without having to beat all the other rooms first (sometimes fire blocks the shortest path)
2) I'm lazy. I don't want to carry 6 sprites to the center of the map since I normally only pass through the center 3 times (start, after right side, after left side).
How convenient, the next patch eliminated the bug entirely.
~R I P~
I know i'm late to this conversation but I feel as though they should either re-instate it or dumb down the graphics on the shadowfire. As I just got to T3 and ran it the other day there was a person in our group from asia that was lagging so bad we could see them skip around. The party leader used it to clear out the shadowfire and he said it helped tremendously. We still did all the rooms but the primary purpose was to reduce lag
Its the sprite glitch. People have been abusing it since the beginning of time. Also, this should be in bug reports.
