I want a gun for vana but i dont want so much to take blitz, antigua line or polaris(i see these guns everywhere and i want something different ....can u propose me a good gun?
What gun should i have?
I've seen valiance being used quite effectively against vana. But,well,I've seen callahan being used too, though i think it isn't a very good option as it neither gives you the mobilty that AP does nor does it deal monstrous damage like blitz.
Well... there are a reason why they are everywhere...
- Blitz is taken because it is the best DPS against Vanaduke himself. A charge shot with a Blitz is actually 15 shots that do around 140 damage per shot. It totals up to around 2k damage per charge shot.
- Antiguas, more specifically the Argent Peacemaker, is just a basic sidearm for weakening zombies from afar.
- Polaris is used for a combination of knockback and damage (and shock).
However, if you want to be different, here are two other options:
1) Autogun -> Plague Needle: It functions the same as the Blitz needle, except it replaces a fair amount of damage for poison. People don't use it often for two reasons. One is because it is a PVP reward and requires a lot of Krogmo Coins. The other is because the Blitz is far superior than the Plague Needle in most situations. It works like a Blitz though and is good enough for most parties.
2) Elemental Alchemers: The alchemers aren't used by many players, unless they are a gunslinger. The earlier versions of the Alchemers are rather meh at best. They are two shots with alright damage, but not spectacular. Once you get to 4* though, the Alchemers (Drivers when you get to 4* and 5*) are a respectable choice. They do around 200 damage per shot, and bounce several times. When you face really dense mobs of Zombies (Which is all the time in FSC), the bullets will bounce multiple times between zombies, so one shot essentially becomes 3-5 shots. I don't like my Nova Driver because it feels rather... weak. Especially on low graphics settings (so my laptop doesn't burst into flames in FSC, no pun intended), it feels like I'm throwing spitballs at the zombies, instead of something like the Polaris which makes everything explode (Although the Alchemers do as much, if not more, damage than the Polaris).
is a hail driver a good option because i have the 2 star version and i like the freezing..is the range of the gun suitable for vana?
The Hail Driver takes a larger degree of skill (a fair amount of good luck too) than even the other Alchemers because its ricochets (as well as careless teammates) will break any Freeze that was placed from any previous projectiles. Just a warning there. You might have a little trouble if you depend on the Freeze because of this. Of the Alchemers, I recommend the Voltech or the Prismatech (not the Firotech since this is within the context of Firestorm Citadel) if you want take maximum advantage of them. If you've already invested a fair amount in the Cryotech or the Firotech, it won't make too much of a difference though Voltech or Prismatech would most likely speed things up.
As a dedicated gunner, the guns you take are really up to your playing style.
If you want DPS, Blitz and AP win hands down (particularly the former); though seeing as you don't want either of these...
Well, I frankly don't recommend the Polaris too much for FSC, because it has a tendency of pushing enemies out of reach, in many rooms you won't have enough space for the normal shot to expand, and because maneuverability is a luxury not particularly available in FSC.
That being said, I also do not recommend Valiance owing to low damage; however it's still a decent sidearm if you have nothing else to rely on.
Otherwise, you can bring along a Prismatech for dps (preferably at 4* or above to take advantage of the ricochets most effectively) - my suggestion is aim for the rightmost enemy or the enemy in the middle. Voltech is the best choice for FSC out of the elemental alchemers; Cryotech can be tricky, but perfectly doable if you are competent at positioning your shots well.
I absolutely do not recommend the Pepperbox; even if you can take advantage of charge shots, the Plague Needle is better since it doesn't push foes away.
You can bring a Neutralizer, but be warned that you might scatter the zombies if your positioning is bad; so look out for your teammates before you detonate that weapon.
As for Callahan; it will make your Trojan fights much easier, but be warned that you can't fire while moving, and there's only two in a clip. That being said, it's a support weapon.
@Kentard:I suggested valiance because the OP wanted a gun against vana;at least that's what i gathered.Valiance is definitely not the best option(even if we exclude blitz,AP and polaris) for the depths before the throne room. However,I believe it's fairly good against vana himself considering that it provides decent maneuverability and damage(not the best i agree). Otherwise,i totally agree with you.
"If you want good Piercing but don't like the Blitz Needle, well, there's always the Plague Needle."
xD Anyways to be slightly more helpful, Callahan is amazing against duke after you learn to use it and learn to not cause bad stun.
"You can bring a Neutralizer"
As long as you never use the charge attack on the mask. It is bugged.
the CHARGE ATTACK will bug the mask, end its vulnerability phase, and damage any teammate near the mask. Normal attacks are viable, however.
Most people use argent peacemaker against vana
Try the Storm Driver (shock alchemer). If you have a shiver-er, the shock won't interrupt the freeze too much, and the shock might save you when you least expect it to (random vana charge meets shock spasm)
Alchemers are generally useful and fairly common in the hands of a skilled user. Must take advantage of their ricochets to really get full use of them. If you want good Piercing but don't like the Blitz Needle, well, there's always the Plague Needle.
