So this has happened a couple times to me, and is really starting to bum me out:
I'll go to a gate and select the depth I wanna play and hit join party, it doesn't give me the, "There are no parties, would you like to start one?" message so I know I'm joining somebody. I personally enjoy playing with others more. While the level is loading, it all of a sudden restarts from 0% or sometimes it just takes a while to go beyond 0%. I soon realize what is happening: The party I just joined kicked me before I had even started playing. The level loads and sure enough I'm halfway through a level and yet nobody else is with me and the chat still recorded whatever was said in the seconds I was with the team.
I make sure I play with others 'cause I enjoy it, but now I've wasted 10 energy and am in the middle of a level. My most recent incident of this left me in the middle of a dozen Darkfang Thwackers with only one health bar remaining and the next couple seconds of lag while my computer got itself together ensured that I died. Now I have to waste another 10 energy just so I can actually try and play the level. I don't get why this happens. I have all 4* equipment at this point so its not like I'm dragging the team, and how would they know if they haven' t given me chance to play and show them. Do they see my loadout and are all like,"This guy isn't using a Gran Faust or Divine Avenger with Wolver Armor, he must suck, kick him." Or do they just not want another person joining them? 'Cause if that's the case then use the lock party function and avoiding having to kick people.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm sure I'm not the only one it happens to, so maybe some of you could be a bit more thoughtful or at least lock your party.
Getting Kicked From Parties Before You've Started
In some cases, they just forgot to lock the party. In others, they're trying to help someone else. Maybe you're taking long enough loading in that they're suspicious your connection is bad, in which case you could be nothing but a burden.
And further still, sometimes, yes, people might judge you entirely based on your loadout.
Best advice is for you to get a guild so you can play with people without this ever being a problem, or get better at soloing.
Maybe they were saving a spot, maybe they forgot to lock party, whatever.
My question is, how did you start a run with only one bar? Unless your knight was loaded in before your screen was, which has only happened to me once when my internet was being spotty.
Back when I used to run arcades.... Okay seerusly. Back then, I used to run with my party open, because back then, getting a closer jump to basil saves you anywhere from 10 to 40ce. I'll still kick to save spots for a friend/guildy.
There isn't much you can do about it. You don't know their reasons for kicking, unless they said in chat or to you.
There are times where I forgot to lock the party myself (I'm a solo-er) and yeah some unlucky people start poofing beside me. So... Whoops. But Usually it's at the starting of a level. There's also a few occasion where I went solo, for some reason some dude was in my party again right after I finish loading my screen. You can never know lol.
I don't think it's as worse as getting kicked in a middle of a battle with a party for no particular reason though. That pissed me off even more.
Re: starting with only one bar, I haven't had that happen to me specifically yet, but for some reason when I play with Steam nowadays I will get stuck on the 99% loading screen for ages and then just suddenly jump to being fully loaded (non-flashing avatar). When I play with the browser-downloaded client with the same character and computer, it does the usual fade-in from the loading screen plus the flashing avatar. With the Steam example, I'm assuming that my character has been fully loaded for a while but I am still visually stuck on my loading screen -- so it's fully possible for my character to be massacred in the middle of a stage while I still think I'm loading.
(On a slightly unrelated note, I now avoid using the Steam-based client since I get grueling lag almost constantly, and the browser-based one seems to be less awful.)
I agree with Zelvest: 9 times out of 10, it's because the party leader forgot to lock the party. Hey, it happens. I go soloing in order to grab more materials (usually to sell in AH), and although I'm normally quite diligent in locking the party, occasionally I'll slip. Mostly, that's if I've left a party of friends to go on my own after part of a run (or a dozen other circumstances). Now since additional party members cuts the number of materials I'll obtain, well, that's bad for business.
Bottom line, most of the time it is NOT personal or due to your gear/experience, but just the party leader's preference. And as said before, partying with guildmates is a great way to keep that from happening if it is bothering you.
PS: @Greenheath, if I see you joining my party, I won't kick you! =D
you said you have 4* equips? are you joining T1 parties T2 parties or T3 parties?? if you are joining T3 parties that are doing Firestorm Citadel and Vanaduke or Infernal Passage and fiends.....me thinks its kinda obvious why you get kicked....i dunno, just wild guessing and grasping at straws on my part.....
I will agree with others, most of the time the leader forgot to lock the party, cause the game never retains your last party settings and sometimes leaves it open even though you thought it was locked...now on the other hand, you should join a good guild that always has people doing something. If you would like an invite to my guild please send me an in game mail or a friend request stating you would like to join the guild to shortnstubby. we have 7-15 people on usually from 2-3pm est till 6am est and there is around 4-5 any other time of the day. we are a guild that likes to hang out and do depths together to help each other out.
This is what the Friends list and Guilds are for.
honestly, what everyone said.
Get over it. If its really a problem then learn to solo, play LD, grab a guildie, or a friend. Really, its not a big deal.
Things happen, party leader occasionally forget to lock party and the unlucky one get kicked.
That didn't bother me much, as i'm already used to get kicked from party, which, I'm quite grateful as it really level-ed up my skills on playing rather than relying on others.
I do enjoy party with random, but not when the party starting to get annoying when some noob starting to show off.
Anyway, No worries, i won't kick you if you are in my party :)
FIX YOURE FACE then people will accept you |_[•_•]_| ( does that make sense?)
I've noticed when you select to join a party & if there are none, the option to start your own group doesn't pop up anymore dropping you down into the manor instead. At least the old way (if its not a bug) allows you not to setup the group & try another run.
Unless with friends, I always fly solo for various reasons:
Hogging all the drops and materials (Especially those super rare weapon or armor drops... Yums...)
Avoid having to keep more than your own head alive.
Not have to fight over who gets the Vitapods, Vials, and Health Capsules.
And finally, NOT to end up in the scenarios you have been in, GreenHeath.
if party leader dont like u, your gear, or if he reserve the spot for someone else, kick is his only options, so i dont see anything bad about kicking.
'Cause if that's the case then use the lock party function and avoiding having to kick people.
That's the case sometimes, and really the only case from what I've seen, but if my observations of the majority of the playerbase are worth anything, I wouldn't put it past them to kick me simply because I wasn't using their favorite gear.
All in all, this shouldn't bum you out if only because this sort of thing is far too common, and you might kill yourself eventually from all the stupid.
