Hi guys, just a quick question.

Does the bonus from the Hunting Blade and Wild Hunting Blade actually work..? My damage bonus vs beasts is maximum but im doing the same damage to wolvers as I am to gremlins and lichens and what have you. Im in T3 missions atm. Is it because my sword is still 4*? and not the 5* version?

I dont wanna upgrade to 5* if the bonus doesnt even work :/

Any help out there? :(

The bonus does work, but if

The bonus does work, but if you're getting a total Sword Damage Bonus: Maximum! from other gear such as a Skolver Set, BTS or trinkets you will not notice a difference since the damage bonus is capped at Maximum. You can easily check this by opening up your character (P) and hovering the mouse over your helmet icon on the bottom left, which shows all bonuses you currently have.

Wiki page explaining this is here: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Abilities#Ratings

All sources of damage increase stack up to Maximum. If you're using equipment that gives you max bonus on swords (Skolver set and Barbarous Thorn Shield), family damage bonuses won't increase it any higher.

Simple

Damage boosts are capped at Maximum!(+6)

Hunting Blade gives High(+3) on beasts = High(+3) total

5* Sword Damage Trinkets give Medium(+2) each, and BTS gives Medium(+2) = Maximum!(+6) total

no, +6 is the limit, the boosts will not go over +6

From what you are describing, yes taking off the trinkets there will be a difference
Also you should have gotten Venom Striker, if it's for actual combat

With your damage trinkets and BTS I'm guessing you're at Maximum! damage. If so, taking them off will reduce your damage against monsters that are not beasts, and until you remove bonuses that bring you lower than "High" you will not have a decrease in damage vs. beasts.

Look at it this way, your Skolver/BTS/Trinkets give a universal Sword Damage boost, which is like a Damage Boost vs. ALL. Adding a High beast will do nothing since your universal damage is already at Maximum.

If your universal Sword Damage boost is anything less than Maximum, you would notice a difference in damage between beasts and other monsters since your universal boost is less than your boost vs Beasts.

Also, if you cared to read the wiki page I linked in my previous post, you would no longer be confused:

"All types of damage bonuses at a given rating give equivalent bonus to that type of damage. For example a "Sword Damage Bonus: Medium" does the same damage as "Damage Bonus vs Slimes: Medium" when attacking a jelly cube, with everything else equivalent. This means that the sword damage bonus is more useful because it applies to more enemies."
