I keep crashing at 33% and I've been wondering on how i could fix it...

Also, is there a possiblity I could make the game run faster? My computer is extreamly old and it even lags at the start menu. I've already turned the graphics to low but I'm pretty sure I could make it run faster if I knew what some of the options in Options meant such as the options in Advanced Options (I apologize of the frequent use of the word "Options") or what UI and Effects did.

Please HELP! :c

Eh?

Just out of curiosity, what are the specs for your computer? Processor, OS, etc. (I'm not going to ask about BIOS and overclocking because nobody overclocks their computer for SK)?

And um, here's the wiki page for reference.
Enable vertical sync; if you experience screen tearing while playing enable this to smooth things out.
Compatibility mode reduces the graphics effects and can make the game run more smoothly on an older computer that is closer to the minimum specifications. Monsters such as Jellies and Lichen will appear to be dark blobs instead of transparent with visible nuclei with this option checked.
Render effects enables more advanced graphical effects for those using more powerful computer hardware. Cannot be enabled with Compatibility mode on.
Antialiasing Level smooths jagged edges and is more noticable at higher resolutions. The high value settings shold be used on more powerful graphics hardware. Leaving the value at 1x is the same as having it disabled. Note that only NVidia graphics cards can utilize the 16x setting.

Basically, switch on Compatibility Mode, and turn off the rest of the advanced options.

As for the crashing at 33%, I'm not sure how to handle that, but one possibility is that your computer's processor can't handle the graphical requirements. Again, check your specs with the minimum requirements:

Windows & Linux
Windows XP, Vista or 7
Java 1.5
Display 1024x600
1.3 GHz processor
Graphics: 64mb Video Memory. GeForce 5 series, ATI Radeon 8500. Latest video driver.
Memory: 512mb for Windows XP or 1gb for Windows Vista/7
300MB Hard drive space

Mac
OSX 10.4
Java 1.5
Display 1024x600
1.3 GHz processor
Graphics: 64MB Video Memory. GeForce 5 series, ATI 8500. Latest video driver.
1GB memory (1000MB)
300MB hard drive space

If it doesn't match, I suggest getting an upgrade if possible, otherwise, check if your drivers are updated, there's enough memory, and if it still doesn't work, reinstall SK.

I'm pretty sure something is bogging down Windows if this is the case.

If you keep crashing while an area is loading, there's a good chance you're running out of available RAM. Do you have at least a gigabyte of RAM?
