Why is it that we have a mist bomb for 5 out of 7 status affects and not 7 out of 7? I don't know that a sleep bomb would be all that effective but a curse bomb could be very awesome. As far as I'm aware there is no weapon that induces sleep and only the GF causes curse. Personally I would love to see a curse mist bomb but if you could have a curse/sleep gun or bomb what would you want?

Curse-Overpowered. Are you out of your Mind?
Sleep- Combined with Poison, they will be Invulnerable & their Health will be Dropping. Overpowered.

Curse is obviously overpowered, unless the bomb has a super tiny radius or curses the user as well --> wich in turn would make such weapon horrible. Sleep is just a bad freeze.

Bleh, status effects.

A Curse Bomb? Unless it curses the user in range (There is no chance you WON'T be able to get out of range) Or upon use (Like the Faust's charge attack) it would be quite broken and overused.

As for a Sleep bomb, it'd be pointless, some monsters resist the Sleep status, so unless there was a way to balance it on the correct end of the scale (For usefulness) WITHOUT breaking the general idea, it would be worthless.

Idea for curse type

Idea for curse type bomb!

Yes, curse mist would be so overpowered, i'd lol the whole way. However, if we had a slow detonation time, said curse bomb would have a 50/50 chance of cursing two beings, players included. This prevents it from being LOLcursespam.

Um

What's inherently OP about a Curse bomb? Make the damage per Cursed attack tiny. Stats tweaking: it exists.

(Never thought I'd be defending Damienfoxy. . . .)

First this is purelly

First this is purelly hypothetical as we all know the odds of ever seeing something of this nature are slim to none. Second it could easily be given a 30 second to 1 minute cool down period where if attempted to to use befor that the user is automatically cursed stopping any chance of spamming and forcing the wielder to appropriately choose when to use the bomb. Thirdly if curse is so op why are swordies the only ones thought worthy of wielding such a thing?

Curse-powered-flaming chickens

Because with a curse-inducing haze bomb, you can effectively curse an entire arena of enemies and then run away as they drop like flies as they chase you. The GF at least requires the user aims at a target.

As a bomber myself, if they made one, I'd use it and laugh maniacally all the way. But it would definitely remove all of the challenge in each fight, and that would ruin all the fun of this game.

EDIT: Also, shouldn't this belong in the Arsenal?

Curses!!

Damage per second needs to be reduced on curse, as well as the curse duration.

It's just dumb to watch two cursed giant lichens go poof without effort...

Well...

Well, a curse bomb could work if the duration of the curse effect would be short, after all... doesn't Ash of Agni also deal damage over time? And as much as there are fire monsters inmune to it, there are monsters inmune to curse, so it could work very well if balanced properly.

Overpowered

Curse is by FAR overpowered, and is by far one of the most useful status effects possible to inflict on enemies. A curse bomb would mean definate overusage, unless the curse was really weak, or a VERY low chance of inflicting a curse.

@Aumir I agree with your last

@Aumir I agree with your last post, as for not putting this in the arsenal I put it in general because of the last sentance in the OP (it is a what if question about 2 different weapon types). If it does belong there I appologize for posting in the wrong spot.

If you look at the wiki all the mist bombs have good chance of causing a minor status whereas the GF has a fair chance of strong curse. If there ever were such a thing as a curse mist bomb it would only cause minor curse and if it were coupled with a cool down period as I mentioned earlier it could be a legit bomb that is not over powered but rather somthing that would require a little thought about it's use and not just mindless spamming.

Idea if curse bomb. <-- Still too OP

How about a different haze effect, like not the standard circle. Perhaps just a rotating ring of haze, with breaks in between. That would be interesting.

Solution:

-Charge Time Increase: Very High Penalty
-Minor Curse
-BAB Radius
-Charge Time of the ISB

No.... A curse seal! Anything

No.... A curse seal! Anything that steps in it gets cursed, it works off a pulse, and inflicts as long as the enemy is in it. Also affects players at a minimal chance

Nope

If it's like that Damienfoxy, then the chances of them attacking inside is VERY slim. 2*-4* will be almost useless.

The enemy are likely to get pushed out or walk out before they attack.

I Posted mine, already. Although, that was a Joke. I wouldn't want a Curse Haze Bomb. The Game's already Easy enough with the Whole "Dodging/Blocking Monster Bug."

Someone set us up the bomb

A curse bomb in LD would be even more unbalanced than in the clockworks. It would be the original DR all over again. Hilarious to use, for sure, but really rather unfair.

The curse haze bomb would deal shadow damage, look maroon, and have a slight chance of causing minor curse.

Sounds pleasing, if the curse itself at 5 stars did probably 10x the current depth.

Guys

Umm, Curse is NOT overpowered. Why? Because enemies simply aren't aggressive/enraged enough for curse to rip them apart (unless it's a Giant Lichen Colony).

If you don't believe me, get a Gran Faust. Even with a Giant Colony, you'll find that mashing attack kills the thing faster than cursing it and waiting for it to die.

And before you say anything, also remember that you have to trigger an attack (be in attack range) for Curse to work. If you use the hypothetical bomb's big radius as an incentive to stay out of danger, then nothing's actually gonna attack and take damage…

Thx

Thanks for posting Metagenic it's nice to see somebody look at this resonably insead of just shouting OP. Lets not forget this is just a "what if". I also was talking about guns with these status effects but no one has chimed in there but, for the most part, have belittled the idea of a curse bomb. Fiend and undead are not effected by curse so that leaves 4 classes it could be of use against 3 of those attack from a distance but it would be much more useful if used in close quarters or in a full group. I don't know if sleep even works against fiend but if it did a sleep mist bomb or sleep gun could be very useful against that moster class.

If Curse were to be added to

If Curse were to be added to a Bomb, I think it would go best with the Graviton Vortex. I don't know why or whether that's too powerful but it just seems fitting to me.

How about if it's not a haze

How about if it's not a haze type. The curse bomb explode like a Nitronome and with slight chance of causing curse?

Other idea

Give it a large charge time and make the user immobile while charging.... easy :)

It's still overpowered if you have a decent friend bumping enemies while you charge.
Or if you simply use a shiver first, then charge while everyone is frozen.

Not-so-easy :(
