A Path to Get and Upgrade UVs: A Plan by Electricmessiah and Golza

Ok so chance is great and all, and definitely should be implemented, perhaps even as is, but every knight should have access to the UV of his or her choice to some degree, though this direct and stepwise path may be extremely difficult. I am here to propose that OOO implement a way for all players to get High and even VH UVs of his/her choice, though the difficulty of such a task would be high enough that buying the UV would be still worth it. The plan is something like as follows. You must have at least low (medium, maybe?) of the UV on the gear you wish to upgrade before you even begin. You then must pass a certain challenge within the clockworks or LD to upgrade the UV. Once you complete it, you may choose on UV on one piece of gear to upgrade. Each level of upgrade should have more than one choice, however, of task to complete, so that if I want to upgrade 4 weapons from Medium to High I do not have to necessarily repeat challenges. So far, we have thought of some ideas:

Low to Medium UV: Beat FSC taking X amount of hits or less, or in certain gears/time limits (something very difficult but not insane.)

Medium to High: Repeat but with Shadow Lair of choice.

High to VH: UFSC plus UP taking 10-15 or less hits, something quite difficult that almost no one can do without major practice, even then they may not complete it.

Pick any challenges of these types of difficulty, and add them in. Perhaps getting 30-35k dmg in LD, or 18+ caps, get creative. So much damage with a certain class weapon, etc. FSC bombs only in under 40 minutes, JK in under 12 minutes, whatever you want. This suggestion can be critiqued, but challenges can be thought of and posted here as well. Here are some pros we thought of:

1. The players will have TONS to do. You will never be bored, and if you are you are playing wrong.
2. People will have advancement opportunity. Right now, stagnation is all too easy.
3. OOO can finally make it so running different gates/strata is mandatory for advancement. Bomb Network as well.
4. Crafters and rolls have incentive now. Low and Medium UVs needed to begin the process, so tons of low/mediums will have to be produced.
5. The high end UV market will be protected. This process will be hard enough that buying an ASI VH FF for 50k ce will most certainly still be appealing to many if not all. If it is not, then everyone is going to have to practice up MAJOR on clockwork and LD skill
6. This will attract many players and players who quit before. Self explanatory.
7. Double/triple UVs will be worth it like never before, since each individual Uv will be upgradable.
8. Shadow Lairs, which are desolate and pointless now, have major major MAJOR meaning now.

I actually like this idea.

I actually like this idea. It's fun, and doesn't destroy uv market. And if anyone complain,s they still have the original methods of obtaining a uv.

What I'm kind of iffy on, is the sl only content. Granted, nothing else provides enough difficulty, but there will be some mad people.

Or...

You can always take 3 reliable friends to do the place for you, and you trail behind.

Also, Max! is higher than VH, I'm just assuming there's no way to get that by "advancement".

This would actually be good

This would actually be good for the game, to an extent.

Given that the 'challenges' that you complete are actually hard- dauntless delver hard- then it would do wonders for the in game economy, while supporting players with skill.

You've got the noob with 100K CE, and then you've got the high end player- the high end player makes a piece of gear, and then proceeds to upgrade the UVs on it several times to get it to a v. high, the rich noob them buys it.

The only problem, is that UVs that are out there already now become worth less than before, and that it could mess up the UV system entirely. Seems a bit risky.

Well, we thought of the problem where you have people trailing you. This can be solved in numerous ways, making it solo or 2 man only, etc. Good thinking though.

At Fehzor: yes, people who bought and payed for good UVs are getting screwed, but I am one of those people, so this idea is coming from one of your own. A good player wont mind, and will just see this as an opportunity for more. And I cannot stress enough that this will be hard enough that most will still see buying as viable, if not the ONLY option.

Also, max is not higher than VH on anything, Max=VH on armors. It is higher on weps, but not rollable or craftable, therefore not upgradable in this method either.

@Vypar:

" but not rollable or craftable, therefore not upgradable in this method either."

I don't understand. You can get Max! UVs by Punching AND by crafting items with mist.

Not sure what you're trying to say. Maybe you're thinking of an Ultra UV?

Anyway, the difference between VH and Max! is a Medium UV. So yes, there is a difference. If it's something like CTR Max!, then it's just as useful as VH but only because Level 10 swords have an innate Med CTR bonus anyway.
