I'm curious, what does everyone think of heart trinkets being widely available and used in LD? Is it balanced or imbalanced and why or why not?
---------
Personally, I'm vehemently opposed to their use in LD. Even a single pendant creates a very discernible divide between those that use them and those that don't, as that extra hit that can be taken shifts duels between players from games of skill to the pendant user having just the bare minimum of skill to spam attacks in the right direction. The skill required to continuously out-maneuver and attack such an opponent is much greater than the simple action of tacking on six extra hearts. The extra health only serves to cover up mistakes with no consequence beyond the loss of a UV and in turn elevates players that would otherwise only be above average to 'pro' like juggernauts. This is especially true for the striker class which in its initial conception emphasized and rewarded the skill of dodging, weaving, and prediction, but with dual trinkets allows a player to obtain all the sword-benefits AND the survivability of a guardian. Dodging, while still very effective, can be rendered almost null when coupled with the gross amount of damage a standard GF/FF wielding skolver can output.
To those that say "oh, if someone is actually skilled, the extra health shouldn't matter," consider two skolvers facing off with BtB/FFs, the first without dual pendants and the other with. Based on experience, the one without pendants will die in 1-2 hits, the one with will require 6-8. The first need only slip up once to lose, the second can slip up five times and still win. Throw in there fact that during that time the first's striker dash will likely run out and high likelihood of interference from other enemies, and the statistical likelihood of the first's winning diminishes greatly except in the case of the greatest extreme in the skill gap.
Discuss.
Meh, Balanced sine everyone has access to them. Now are they overpowered, that is a different question.
