I've noticed, Spiral Knights, oh, I've noticed alright, how you honor some knights who spend a lot of money and time in-game. You named the magnus gun after "Magnus", the leviathan sword after "Levis", the Roarmuous Twins after "Rommil", the candlestick levels use the symbol of a pawn after "Pawn", and the Crimson Hammer expansion after "Ruby-Eclipse" (Thought you could slip that one past me, eh?) Well, I've had it SK! What's it gonna take, huh? What do I have to do to get honored like these other players? And when you do FINALLY get around to honoring me, it'd be nice if it were an accessory since I'm all over your Wiki Accessories page (hint, hint), perhaps the mawashi-monocle or the mawa-mohawk. I've been waiting patiently, SK, but enough's enough!

Roarmulous twins are named after Romulus and Remus. - Twin Wolves.
Leviathan Sword OBVIOUSLY named after the freaking Leviathan!
Pawn symbol came at the beginning of the elevators. Doubt Pawn joined before that.........

Magnus gun's name is probably derived from Magnum, as in Magnum Force.
The entire Magnus line(s) seem to be one big Dirty Harry reference.
Also kinda on topic, I have a few friends who call the poison kats Katmints. :V
I doubt anything in the game is actually named after a player though, any similarity is either on purpose by the player or a complete coincidence. Mine is the latter case, I did not even know the Kats existed let alone their name when I made my character. :P

I feel it's more logical to say these players retroactively ripped off Three Rings.
Although out of morbid curiosity, how large of a check would you have to cut to Three Rings to have them make a reference to you in game or give you special armor.

I was actually seriously considering what would happen if OOO actually gave shoutouts to the community that way (or through sly references in ingame dialogue)
I figured it would suck and apart from that there are a lot of reasons you shouldn't do such a thing otherwise.
The closest we might get to it is if OOO decided to allow some player-generated ideas into the game or if they went ahead with their plans to give the AI Knights in Rescue missions names and then made it possible to get an AI Knight named after a player character from your friends list who isn't in the party at the present time.

Also, as Nick informed me some time ago, 5* spur will be called Merethif to honour my humility, prudence, courtesy, justice, generosity and other knightly virtues I'm known for.
Actually, I think you will find that the Crimson Hammer Expansion was clearly named in honor of Crimson-Cat.... or possibly Crimson-Albedo... ^_^
