I'm making some bomber gear and was wondering if the vortex bombs really need to be upgraded to 5* or even 4* to be used in groups? They seem to have the same radius, and they aren't really going to deal any noticable damage anyway.

Huge difference
The 4* was a big disappointment when I made it way back.
I didn't upgrade to 5* until I literally had the energy to spare (lol, derp.)
It greatly saves the headache of people constantly knocking stuff out of the vortex with any sort of attack that pushes enemies. With the 5* the bomb sucks them in strongly enough that most attacks won't immediately push them out.

agree with all previous posters. Someone in our guild has the 4* version and I easily knock the monsters out with regular brandish combos.
