Heya everyone ^_^

I made my first video of SK the other day and thought i might as well post it to see what people think. For some reason the quality is kinda crap, but if i make another video I'll fix it on that one.
Its pretty simple video. Royal Jelly Palace done with Dread Venom Striker. I did die once, but to be fair it was my first time really using DVS and I only got 1 health capsule the entire run : /

Well heres the link: Video :D

Tell me what you think :D

~Ndog

PS. Its in 2 parts, link to the 2nd is in the description.

Lower your clicks

Since the DVS attacks very fast i think you should lower your clicks since you have ran into explody boxy things because of it and you ran into other slime attacks and lost health. So my suggestion is go a bit slower with your DVS or just hit more accurately. Nice vid, i want that poisen striker >:)

Video feedback

For a first video it was all right. Awfully plain, but all right. I do have some critique to provide, though.

First of all, like I said, the video is extremely plain. While the intention might have been to keep it simple, raw footage isn't necessarily the best option. For one, there was no commentary in form of audio, and text commentary was in the in-game chatbox. This is a mistake that a lot of video game filmers make, as the text can be small and very hard to read for the viewer. If you're too shy for voice commentary or simply don't want to do voice commentary, adding text commentary on the screen through editing is an option to consider. A few pointers though.

  • For one, don't center the text in the middle of the screen. This clutters any on-going action in-game and generally frustrates the viewer.
  • Pick a reader friendly font and size, and place it where it won't get in the way of the action, such as at the bottom.
  • Try to avoid unnecessary effects that may be tiresome to watch or get in the way of the action.
  • Also try to keep the text on the screen for long enough for the viewer to read them properly without having to neglect the visual presentation to read the text before it disappears.
  • Add thought-process on various sections you think are worth mentioning and such to keep the viewer entertained. This also helps eradicate the waiting time caused by the need to stop progression in order to type it out in-game, and makes the general experience less stale.
  • Be consistent. Don't suddenly change fonts, size or colour unless there is a special occassion for the change.

Which is another point I would like to bring up; don't keep the viewers waiting. A viewer watching you type for five seconds will have spent five seconds watching you do nothing, making the viewer bored. Be it in-game text commentary or socializing with players, watching the host type out a message is boring and we didn't watch your video to bore ourselves. With the help of editing magic you can fast-forward or cut out idle sections, including loading screens, entirely to push the video back into action instead of showing that fifteen seconds clip where you do nothing but talk to your guildmates.

As far as your performance goes you have good control of your Striker, having few slip-ups. More practice could be considered, but you could handle the weapon with decent display.

Other than that, good work.

I was debating commentary,

I was debating commentary, and I do have access to it, but I wanted to see what people think before I put more into my videos

Thanks for the tips ^_^

I'm thinking of making a video on my opinion and use of the new Sudaruska. Would anyone be interested in it? With voice commentary of course :P
