I have been thinking while playing Spiral Knights on a way to "nerf" Wolver Gear. Now I don't hate Wolver (in fact I use it ;D) ,but I'm pretty sure the entire community agrees, Wolver Gear IS at an advantage to other gear. Looking at how Three Rings "suggests" how to use Wolver I came up with a a couple of options for some simple fixes.
I looked at Echo and realized that he mentions how it is essential for a "striker" to strike fast and hard. I also looked at LD for more reference. The Striker equipment (I know, I know kind of obvious) makes you faster ,BUT it is in here that you will find the answer. Strikers don't have as much HEALTH or DEFENSE as other equipment. Also, Wolvers don't have quite a truck load of health :b.
I figured out, why not get rid of one or two bars of defense OR lower the health bonuses. This MAINTAINS the purpose people use this armor. To get sword bonuses and have special defense (fire, freeze, and poison). Also I find people say they like it ,too, because it has no weaknesses. What do you think? How would this effect game play? Would it even make a SLIGHT difference?
