Been playing for a good week now (I think) and I noticed that people who disconnect whilst in dungeons get booted out to Haven. I was wondering if it were possible to implement a reconnect feature where it gives you a period of time post-disconnection to rejoin the dungeon you disconnected from at no cost (10 minutes tops maybe?)
I found some of the people I knew had problems with their computers and as such would waste 10en due to disconnects/errors.
That is my contention exactly. Today a friend of mine was having troubles with her computer and as such hanged well over 5 times and was booted to town each time, so I thought I would try to bring this matter up.
On your resuming where you left off, that only has happened to me once :S
I have lost connection a few times.. And when I logged back in I returned to where I was..
I notice it does treat certain situations like a user-induced logoff, and as such sends you back to Haven. (i.e: BSOD, hanging during loading) That poses a problem more-so than loss of connection.
I have had luck recently with getting back to where I was after a BSoD. If the game crashes, its usually smart about it. If its an external crash, I'm not sure its guaranteed to work right... but it should be! I don't think its very hard for them to at least notice we've been disconnected. Even it we did it accidentally or on purpose, I don't see any harm in giving us that grace period. unless theres some way it can be exploited of course
i suggested the same thing under the support section once, but it should have been said here. may have posted it elsewhere too.
as you said, there should be a grace period where users are allowed to reconnect within some time period (10-15 minutes, or some other reasonable amout of time) to resume where they left off. i had many occassions where my computer bluescreened, video driver crashed, timed out because I had to soothe my baby back to sleep, etc etc. and i wound up back at haven when i reconnected. which sucks. can waste CE / crowns (gate/elevator costs) and lose all progress on a gate dive.
that said though, if feel like the majority of the crashes I've had lately were handled much better than before. i seemed to be resuming progress in dungeons were i left off, which was a pleasant surprise since i was getting used to that NOT happening. i wonder if anything was changed in a recent bugfix / update about that behavior.
