I know that people have pushed for upgrades for our dear knight-in-a-capsule in the past, but I think I may have a viable answer. If we we somehow able to give mecha-knights vita-pods or damge upgrades, they might become useful partners while soloing. As of now, they are cannon fodder. (which is not always bad...)
What if we could drag a set number of vials onto a mecha-knight, and upgrade it? it does not have to be any set upgrade, I am even up for a randomly assigned bonus ( even a chance of destroying the mecha-knight would be alright as long as it balances the system...). I would be more than happy if the Game Developers made secret upgrades, where we had to feed certain combinations for select bonuses or hindrances.
Upgrade ideas:
increased ASI, CTR, DMG, Armor... etc
add status effect to sword
create gunner/bomber mecha-knights
let the knight hold vials, and use them
the knight can follow you down elevators until destroyed
Negative Risks: (these also might happen)
explosion (death)
decreased stats
weaponless (only shields)
no shield
attacks you
Does anyone have ideas on how to improve this system, or how we could easily "feed" the mecha-knights vials without radically changing the gameplay? If so, feel free to comment.
Actually, I kinda like the idea of bein' able to upgrade Mechaknights with pickups. Maybe not quite giving it new stats, but different statuses would be kinda cool.
Like giving a Mechaknight a Fire Vial, and it gaining the ability to inflict fire with it's attacks. Of course, Sleep and Curse are probably better off not working on these guys...
Giving them Vitapods to increase their defense sounds good too.
