If you go into the clockworks right now, you'll some subtle differences, that's most likely what the patch was.

Maybe in Easter?
Lesser Elevator Fees in the minimum of -5 energy or -7 energy cost? (Fee: feel free to post your ideas on this idea)
Or monsters/prize boxes drop Easter Eggs and they contain random stuff in them depending on Tier and Clarification on Missions? (Tier & ...: Feel free to post your ideas on this idea)

Updates in April?
It's probably for any future update for early April, it appears it was for the April Fool's Day content. (The enemies using chat, possibly also the snipe heads and invisible armor the Game Masters were using earlier too.)
Not sure if the update added anything for this game's Anniversary though.
April 4th is the official anniversary of SpiralKnights (I think) so there
will most likely be some new content added soon. It could just be something like costumes (i.e hats)
but the fact that they had to release a patch with "behind the scenes" stuff before the update leads me
to believe it may be something bigger.
